It also says "Initially the deployment was hampered..".. and it also talks about prevention in one location. What about the other locations. Did the IA get there in time..? So, what Panag said about India's initial slow response also seems to be true.. but his assumptions about the extent of the incursions might be wrong..
Bullshit. They moved troops under the guise of a military exercise. At the ground due to their infrastructure, build up can happen within hours.

This 'delay' was exactly what I referred to.

I still don't understand the Indian response.

What is the point of pitching tents opposite to Chinese forces? In the initial few days when we were still assessing the ground situation, understandable. But the same strategy is having no real effect on ground and its only emboldening the chinese to dig in. Would we have allowed Pakistani forces to stay in our territory for so long or to dictate to us what we can or cannot built in our own territory?

I see only viable alternative to this stand off is to outflank the chinese and move into occupied aksai chin and then negotiate for a proctated peace.

The current strategy has us negotiate from a position of weakness. The chinese will dictate what we do with our land or how much forces we can keep in the valley in return for what-moving back from our territory.

Capture their controlled territory, and then negotiate from a position of equal footing. Eye for eye, blood for blood, territory for territory. And then see lizard back off.

Believe me it's quite good.. you should watch the response in 2012/2013 from govt.:)

We had a meeker response in the past. Past 10 years slowly our response has been getting bolder to what you see now.
Earlier Chinese 'physically' obstructed drain building work (Dhemchok).
BDO was saved from capture by 'persuation'.
In 2013 army was bold but political leadership was weak (ointment comment)
In Dhoklam and current situation, both govt. and army have indicated they aren't going to budge.

Before onslaught of vivo and oppo Micromax was doing fine . Today we have most of the components being built in India and enough talent .

Xiomi and realme have lots of Indian engineer.

If govt gives a nudge Indian brands like Micromax lava could at least take back low budget segments.
Neither Micromax nor Lava made their circuit boards, application processors, or displays in India. They were simply "whitebox vendors" for Shenzhen-based OEMs, who later decided to push them aside and directly enter the Indian market under the Oppo/Vivo/Xiaomi/OnePlus brands.

The most anti-china phone you can possibly buy right now is a Samsung Galaxy that uses a Samsung Exynos application processor, because its AP, DRAM, NAND flash, and display, are made on Korean soil, and battery in Malaysia; and partially assembled in India. Not even Apple counts, because the iPhone is still assembled in China, with mostly Taiwanese-made parts.

India do not recognise Akasai Chin as a part of China, this territory was illegally occupied by China. I think we should outflank China and build our structures as a counter.
Since we're all armchair field marshals here: The outflank shouldn't be into AC, but rather Baltistan, with a dash toward Skardu. You hurt China more by entering G-B and threatening CPEC. More so because you deprive China of an excuse to escalate as you're not entering China-controlled or claimed territory.

This. Bloody cut both the MOFOs. Only problem there is a patch of land in GB as well that is China controlled. What to do then?

India is already preparing for that, but Chinese should be sent a signal that India can also exercise its options just like Chinese.

Problem with this strategy is that - you officially start 2 front war as an aggressor. It's not that Bakis will not enter the fray if we have a war with China, but then India can play the victim card and rally support.

Btw, with fighter patrolling over the contention area, things seem to have been heated up by a notch. Don't remember this happening during Doklam.

Not looking at past response. A different- a more bolder government in power and hence I am at least optimistic at suggesting a more bolder response. Had MMS/RG been in power I wouldn't even bother.

But the fact is we are being too defensive. This is a game of chess. It not about how much force we have or muscle. its about the tactics and outflanking the other side.

True but now lots of things are being built in India . So Indian companies can revive .

Remember Chinese are also not doing anything innovative they are too building components on licence and assembling. But at a deeper level.

Smartphone chips are either Korean or Taiwanese with arm core .
Camera module is either Sony or Samsung .
Pcq is designed in Germany or Taiwan or USA.
Screen is LG or Samsung.

Software is American .

We can build non Chinese phones too . Some momentum and funding form goi is required.

Make an alliance of Indian hardware/ software companies and order smartphone together like ujala scheme to push for a non chini smartphone.

Nobody respects victims. Nobody would respect a 1.3 billion-strong nation playing victim with so much strategic depth left untapped.

We are the world's 4th most powerful military, next only to the US, China, and Russia; and we should start playing the part.

Indira Gandhi put aside vasudaiva-kutum-bunkum and picked up the sword. She pulled off the largest territorial liberation after WWII. Xi Jinping is trying to be the next Mao (including humiliating India to destroy its spirit for the next 50 years).

It's time Modi at least tries to be the next Indira, or he does not deserve a clear mandate.
