China and Bhutan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on a Three-Step Roadmap to help speed up boundary talks that have been heavily delayed, during a virtual meeting held on Thursday. The MoU is of historic significance and is the result of years of joint efforts and sincere cooperation between the two sides, analysts said, noting that it points out the direction for breaking the current deadlock and laying a foundation for the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Bhutan.

Does China stop Taiwan from establishing diplomatic and trade relations with India?

of course, we are obliged to do so, because india recognizes Taiwan as integral part of china.

Bhutan is not part of india, but an independent sovereignty, hence has the right to make her own decisions on diplomacy.

Bhutan is under India protectorate. If Bhutan is establishing relations with China, I guess India is involved in this.

Recent statements from India do not acknowledge one china narrative.

Bhutan has exactly as much "sovereignty" as India and China allows it. China has shown it does not respect it by grabbing their land, tough luck for Bhutan but India is not going to let then negotiate any agreement that it disadvantageous to India.

Give it a few months the CCP is going to take a giant dump on the MoU. Just like the CCP did in 2012 at Scarborough shoal

Chinese wet dreams.
Bhutan and China have been talking since 1984 but absolutely zero progress.
Nothing will change in the future too.

I was about to post this news. As a Sikkimese dude, I find this very disappointing and hurtful when we are engaged in a border stand-off; our soldiers stood up for Bhutan and this is what they come back with.

Wonder if the Bhutanese side spoke to Jaishankar on this before proceeding. If they did, I am curious to know what's our game plan.

If not, Bhutan is just being naive. If shit hits the fan, we might have to keep the Bhutan-Chumbi area battle-ready like Doklam.

The Bhutan-China bilateral ‘three-step roadmap’ that aims to expedite negotiations to settle festering boundary dispute between the two countries will not cover the India-Bhutan-China trijunction, people aware of the matter said.

:hmm: looks like chinese gave up on doklam

Bhutanese are making a grave mistake. They think finalizing border dispute will stop Chinese transgressions.. lol.
