US is finally serious about upgrading B-52 bombers which are truly ancient as planes go. If upgrades are done this plane may continue to fly till 2040; a really long run. Most planes have a life of 20-30 years after which metal fatigue become an issue.

Indian air force should also keep old planes in reserve, just in case. But I think IAF does not keep too many fighters in reserve.

India needs an inventory of bombers. Russian planes( migs) are not made to last even with good maintenance they always fall apart after 2 decades of use US fighters also have problems with wings etc...

If it is so easy, then it could be a ruse by the Chinese too?

It's hard to determine what the Chinese game plan is, it's all fine and dandy that we consider them great Strategists.
However, the reality could be something as simple as them thinking they could just bully India around. Too much camaraderie with the Porky military leadership could have led them to share the same belief such as the Indian Banias can't fight, look how we've slapped them around in all the wars blah blah blah.
Now they don't know what to do!

Let’s stop speculating . Someone said that we had captured fingers 4-8. Turns out that it wasn’t true. If India had attacked Pakistan or vice verse the Pakistani would have been on the rooftops shouting about it.

Strafing is not a good idea in this terrain. Your aircraft will get shot down. The only good option is artillery. However Chinese positions may be shielded from direct impacts. This is what seems to me.

Employment of aircraft in this situation is tricky if Chinese can see our aircraft from long distances. They do have anti aircraft missiles of long ranges.

I would avoid over-simplification. It is our military forces that will decide on strategies.

there game plan is to keep the pressure on India and hope India backs down and keep whatever territory gained and repeat later Chinese are trapped and also trying to save face? The burden in any war is always on the aggressor
