I think with these type of stand offs happening every year, it is best for Indian army to prioritise induction of BRBMs like prahaar and pralay in its inventory along with other long range rocket artillery like the guided Pinaka and the smerch replacement that is planned . These will serve as great area denial weapons and keep in check any misadventure.
