What enrages me in this episode is lack of official level clarity. China issued a statement within hours through their MEA channel and they are done and dusted. No one is going to dig or pick the case anymore at media level and they can proceed to act on further planning.
Whereas at our side, endless meetings, A meets B meets C meets D, and B meets C again. And TILL NOW, after 8 hours since the news first broke, we are yet to hear from our External Affairs sectretary or the defsec or EAM or DefMin. There is chaos in social media, in news media and no one knows anything. At least if they give an official statement in form of a presser, we would at least concretly know what exactly happened and can avoid chaos in opinions.
This is pathetic. China is behaving in a much mature way and as a nation more akin to an upcoming global power. Whereas we are simply too unorganised. Harsh, but true.
While I see where you are coming from let me point out a few things.
Total transparency in military matters is not always a good thing. China gave statements but they didnt give anything out. They were mum till today, remember that. Their whole statement wasnt focused on casualty or current situation or anything, only blaming India as aggressor. They gave statements, but militarily wise they didnt give out anything. The statements were directed at the International community, taking cognizance of the matter while blaming India, some warning statements were directed at us, but they werent giving
statements for their awam. Here its the opposite. They wont be asked any questions from media or anybody.
You cant do that in India. People complain about pressers being cancelled, well you cant give out vauge statements here, even just to calm nerves of public. It will be your head later, why you didnt give clear picture then. You will have to answer media, politicians, whats the current situation bla bla. Heck, its not even 24 hrs yet and people are asking CAG level audit report as if they will do something about it or have the capability to influence the situation in any way? The admin here(both military and political) not only has to manage hostile borders, but also answer every emotional whim of public, politicians, dalals, media, at the same time manage bad PR of army/country. While Beijing and Islamabad(relatively) has no such problems. These things are good when it comes to procurement or policy, not when it comes to military ops/incident.
