on both points Chinese haven”t matured in engines or radar. If Chinese cannot steal it they cannot make it. I read an interview with a Russian who was asked about Chinese reverse engineering Russian engines. He said it is impossible to reverse engineer the engines without completely destroying them and still not getting an idea how to do it? Why did Pakistan insist on Chinese planes coming with Russian engines? Why do Chinese still use Russian engines? How many generation of ws have come out? Don’t believe everything you read many articles are paid pieces even by experts. If Chinese are using s400 what does that tell you about their own radar ? In awacs I don’t see them beyond 30 year old tech nothing new stolen by them. One simple example they still cannot make and install a rotating rotodome AWAC.

Isn't the above Chinese AWACS which has rotodome mounted, doesn't it rotate? This is Chinese built AWACS.

No for the love of effing god, please say no to F-21. F-21 is a repackaged F-16 everyone knows that here. The last thing we want is to go for a aircraft which Pakistanis know in and out. It doesn't matter how advanced F-21 is compared to what Pakis have in their possession. F-21 should not be touched with a barge pole. We already have a zoo of aircraft. We don't need another one to join the zoo. More Rafales is way better than a single F-21.
Right now Americans are our "fastest" supplier, and we need to fill up our squadron strength soon as they'll drop down to just 27 by 2022, which is a big danger. I predict the government will place firm-orders for at least 10 squadrons of *some* aircraft in desperation (in the next 6 months regardless of chicom gandmasti).

4 squadrons of Tejas 1A deliveries before 2022? Not happening. Ruskies delivering their additional squadrons of Su-30MKI and MiG-29UPG? Not happening before 2022 either. Rafales 1st order fulfillment? Maaybe. But what we need now is a fleet-filler. And F-21 (aka F-16 with shoulder pads) is a nice platform to get our pilots to transition over to US hardware.

Lockheed Martin will be in a position to deliver at least 2 sqns flyaway by 2022, by which time its JV partner TATA will set up whatever it is they plan to set up in India.

Well apparently both Chinese and Paki are good at it. They don't care in which country they are and who feed them their royalty lies with China and Islam respectively.

It seems that Modi will make china surrender without firing a single shot. Dar jayega xi.
Though wargaming is a must, China has not and will not deploy the S-400 system in Southern Tibet. One Regiment has already been deployed for the defence of Beijing as their strategy is more geared towards the missile threat from the US. The other regiment which is still not fully ops, is most likely to be deployed to defend their financial hub, Shanghai from air threats and the coastal regions that are vulnerable to US threats from the SCS. These regiments form part of 5 SAM Division.

I agree to your point about our depleting squadron strength. But I would prefer a Tejas MK1 with American engine anyday over F-21. If our aerospace capabilities has to grow we need to build the jets here. Meanwhile GTRE can keep working on indigenous engine. But every other thing which goes into making the aircraft we need to master it so that imports will be history once in for all. The composites, AESA radar, EW capabilities, Avionics, landing gear, RAM, ejection seat our capabilities should be second to none. The value addition of building a jet in India is immense. UPA era could have rectified and overhauled HAL and NAL. Well they were busy committing scams. I don't like talking about them.

GoI should scrap projects like SARAS. Our first priority should be building a high quality fighter jet. And then we can dust off the files relating to SARAS and think about building bigger aircraft.

Both Trump and Modi are known for making unprecedented move Abrogation of article 370 was considered impossible until Mr Modi did it I won’t be surprised if Modi comes out with some deal with US to get atleast 36 F35 like Rafales if not 150 or 200

Saras is a project which will further our aerospace industry. To dump it is stupid. Remember South Korea started by bringing out trainers and now light fighter jet this is how you proceed we are doing the same.

Regarding F 16/21 Yes it's not needed but in emergency only USA can provide aircrafts in huge number that's a fact too. But then strings senate blah blah.

The one jet that can give us clear advantage is F 35 but if we go for it that will effectively cut ties with Russian defence to a great extent. I don't think Indian politics is ready to turn that big right now that's why we went for Rafale in the first place.

We are in emergency situation we are in state of war with China and we won’t care about sanctions or strings attached with American aircrafts or how it will affect us in long term we need weapons and weapon platforms right now as soon as possible
