That's exactly my point but it is quite well known that we haven't built a huge arsenal of ballistic missiles. Just like it is well known that Chinese have 1000s of ballistic missiles. Cruise missiles data is in public so there is no problem in that. Whatever is the number, it is safe to say Chinese outnumbered us in this area by atleast 1:5.

1 regiment 72+72 =144
4 regiments = 575 missiles

We aren't talking about strategic nuke type scenario. Just tactical short range missiles like Prithvi . Unfortunately we need ballistic missiles to counter there mlrs range.

what if india's maximalist position is for PLA to vacate from whole of aksai hind, and indian territory of ladakh cannot be used by PLA for an offensive against india, there by india reserves the right to act on threat to india presented by massive buildup of PLA troops and equipment ?

They got short range ballistic missile- DF 11 numbers more than 1000 . Then they got nearly 500 of df15 . Both of these missiles aren't for strategic purpose but for tactical purposes .
