I did post one of their pics. Yes they have Binods, it is some basic SF stuff which even we lack. Even though their ones look older gen models but still we have inferior ones as we don’t even have gen 3+ monoculars leave binods or even quad nods.

I didn't mean to denigrate anyone, it's just from our perspective (Irish army) sniping is taken extremely seriously, half the SF unit here are trained snipers, and we have more trained snipers than open sniper/spotter positions...seeing a major nation without even a shooter school is weird.

We are not a major military nation on tactics or strategy..we are just major in size.

You need to research about Indian Military to know that it’s not the only weird thing here, we are seetheing here for years.

Snipers in Kashmir ? IDK mate I've seen dragunov (sight removed) being used in CT Ops but never proper snipers being implemented in valley

A Marksman is not a Sniper.

Sadly we have discussed such things like this to death before and quiet a number of members have been abused for it in the past.

Sniper/scout teams are SOF on their own. A single 2 man team could change the outcome of am engagement or war. Sadly we are orientated to Jihadi encounters and winning medals not wars.

No Sniper School
No SOF ISR school
No SOF Intelligence School ( except what they teach to SG maybe)
No Combat Medic school
No education in cyberwar ot digital operations
Do we even have a proper SERE school ?
The list is long


We probably have as good Human resources in terms of physicality as anyone else however with the training/education we provide our capabilities at best is that of US Army Rangers level and that too is a stretch.

That is why I have zero faith in AFSOD. It is being built top down not bottom up. Top down only helps Offsars buff up their CV for the next promotion and gets the MoD and politicans to tick off a to do list.

Bottom up would be researching the gaps, building infra to plug the gaps and then buildkng on top of that till you get to a command.

The only sniper oriented thing we have for our SF is sniper course(basic and advanced) at SFTS
One of my knowns from 3 para did that course.
Instead of unit level training, we do need a seperate school.
SOF ISR, SOF Int and the other schools you mentioned are a wet dream, too much to ask for !
