I thought 10 did better, I read somewhere Sheonan Singh went with about a strength of 102-104.
Ofc yes you are correct that they had no small team concept
Only had a couple of casualties probably, ofc the main objective wasn't accomplished but what I read of that Jaffna University battle it looked tough considering that the whole sri Lanka campaign was doomed from the start. The airforce and sikh company was already in disarray in that Jaffna University LZ.
men of 10 para were ambushed , captured and 5 of them were burnt alive by LTTE as they had allowed the transfer of some LTTE leaders to SL forces .
This was done when we were still playing the peacekeepers role . Before there was any direct announcement of LTTE becoming hostiles by our high command .
As for Jaffna Heli drop , on op is found to fuck up when you have absurd rules of engagement , a sleeping high command with ego issues , an infantry officer who refused to adapt and an Artillery regiment that brought guns but no ammo .
It was a team of SL engineers and their two mortar guns that saved the day , else casualties might have been higher . (it also caused 2 blue on blue casualties due to an officer's incompetence/error)

So all the stores of the LTTE’s most feared enemy unit ran by saint soldier is a made up one?
The bulk of the casualties were in the initial days.

When Para Cdo battalions landed in Sri Lanka, they were using SLRs, and not attuned to the jungle terrain and IEDs.

Adaption to the enemy took time, that's when most casualties took place.

Gen Katoch's book gives good details on it.

If they weren’t taught in small team concepts back then, what were they taught? Green berets,SAS,Macvsog all were using small team concepts.
They were doing company size raids in jeep and jonga.

And that is what they were trying in Sri Lanka.

What you wrote is more like the best case scenario which won't happen even in a million years

CAGs don't take us seriously and don't even interact with us forget about sending instructor's to us especially Paras lmao

SAS ain't wasting time with us too

Yahoodis do cross train but you do know cross training are nothing special barring some excercises

Same With Garuds they do train extensively with Yahoodis infact they follow yahoodis the most but getting a guy to train the troops is tough for us but still for Garuds might be possible

Marcos are doing alright No SEAL team six is sending guys as instructor's but they can hire NATO ex sof definitely If not SEALS Marcos are only ones who actually train with SEALS and SBS so they are actually using their heads for once

NSG seems most likely one who will hire a decent Instructor they were the first ones to get Hari onboard too
If I could give your MOD/whomever has responsibility for your various SOF some advice, it would be spread your wings. Get into contact with the French/Italians/Polish etc and ask to participate in their national SOF exes, They'd be open to it, send teams of guys to Bayonne, Porto Venere, Lubliniec etc.
A lot of this stuff is based on personal relationships, you go train with these units, you do the exes there with them, don't wait for them to come to you.
Your lads start popping up in exes in Europe they will run into all those top tier US units, they participate in those regularly, doesn't matter if it's in the UK, Estonia, Greece or Finland they show up , that's how unit relationships are built. Most of them have little knowledge of Indian SOF because they have no interactions with them, so they don't know the score, you want to step up, you make the move.

I'm telling you it works, it happened with my country's unit, we had no real relationship with UKSF a decade+ back , then there was a national MCT ex we held here, it was shown on the news in the UK (on the move ferry interdiction and HR stuff) later that month the UK embassy in Dublin passed on a letter from the CO of the SBS in Poole asking to get in formal contact to open a relationship...
Someone had seen the story and thought our guys had something to bring to the big boys game.
