I think it played with their ego and nothing else. Major Jacob called out our guys for skydiving without a cyprus and no wind tunnel training etc. So now we had to boast that capability. Similarly a few yrs later Maj Avinash called out for Sniper training, so they will now show that "look we have begun this also". The biggest reason for us not to change is, firstly that not enough people are calling out the mistakes and educating people. Secondly, not many people give a shit.

Wait for someone to have a say on our CQB tactics and all, let the comman public out of some podcast raise questions and only then for their "namak, nishan and izzat" will the Indian Army do something. Because largley speaking our Army (much unlike the Navy and teh Airforce) is mostly up for show all the time. Those who see or know combat and not heard much off
then how is Navy getting it right without the call outs?

because the Navy is serious about it. They have a better feedback mechanism. From day one, there were no questions raised about why the difference between MARCOS and CD. It was clear and understood. Here, in army they always had the airborne fraternity ka tamasha whenever the question rises about SF. I think it's a cultural issue. @binayak95 could shed some light into this

Major Sudhir Walia's Experience in the US

"Oh yes! Another training course! Well, such is life in the uniform; the learning never stops, and neither does the testing. But this training was different. This time I was nominated to go abroad. I was to attend the ‘International Officers Intelligence Advanced Course’ in Arizona in the USA and two other courses, namely ‘Protective Services (VIP Security)’ and ‘Combat Terrorism on Military Installations’ in Alabama.

The International Officers Intelligence Advanced Course was a senior-level course for experienced intelligence officers. The aim of this course was to provide specialized education and training across a range of intelligence disciplines. These included Battlefield Operating Systems, Offensive Operations, Intelligence Collection and Management, and Joint Task Force Planning.

In the course about Protective Services (VIP Security), we were made aware of the various aspects that may be included in providing these protective services to people in important positions or visiting dignitaries, who may be potential targets of terrorism and/or criminal acts. Emphasis was on the full spectrum of protective operations including Doctrine and Terminology, Coordination and Mission Planning, Protective Services in a Hostile Fire Zone, Special Weapons Training, Evasive Driving and Motorcade Operations.. Everything was discussed in this course, starting from the appearance of the personnel in the Protective Services team to what knowledge they may need to possess, self-defence tactics, usage of weapons, different languages and so on."

This is the same shit that Delta Force learns. No doubt old shcool guys were on another level.
This is taken from the book, Coomar by Jaishree Laxmikant. What's best is that this book details his story by taking exerpts from his journal making it read like his diary. He explains operations and probation in his own words.

Or Lankan. only 2 places i know Marcos have done/doing FID
Sri Lanka, Maldives, African countries like we saw recently as more of a deployment, Madagascar, Seychelles, Bangladesh, and back when they used to be CD trained, they'd go for CD missions and training other countries to have deep sea divers also. And they've been in Qatar and some similar nations for both joint exercises in VBSS and CT as well as FID (especially in Diving). Sometimes these international students would come to Kochi and other times we'd go there.
