interesting, he talks about barefoot patrolling to reach the target. And the reason he gives is same to what Richard Marcinko did in his book to what SEALs of SEAL Team 2 and MACV-SOG had in Vietnam. But damn, barefoot patrolling in a burnt jungle in the north east is completly different. Plus he mentions that he read that in Falklands war, the SAS used Kayaks so he developed tactics based on that for riverine operations. But it is kind of surreal to think that why did Para SF realize so late that riverine operations could not be done by Gemini crafts and before almost all SF units used Kayaks. MARCOs have been doing these ops quite often in Sri Lanka and Kashmir. But I guess lack to jointness lead to alot of tactical deficieny.

I believe he was talking specifically about the conditions during the ops were as such that using kayaks seemed to be a far fetched idea, para sf & marcos have been using kayaks since long ago as mentioned by you.

So the team he trained will be going for Vijay prahar
11 PARA SF is going to Vajra Prahar this year. So yes, he did train them for CQB as this year's exercise is going to be held in US wherein apart from the usual Green Berets...Rangers and some elements of seal teams will be participating. The main focus of 2023 Vajra Prahar will be CQB.

I believe this has been a thing for a while ?? Afaik every SF battalion was named in this way - Xth Battalion, The Parachute Regiment (Special Forces) and Regular ones were named as - Yth Battalion, The Parachute Regiment

The Parachute Regiment was the Parachute Regiment.

The Regiment had Para btns and SF Batns under its orbat.

AFAIK it used to be --> Parachute Regiment, 9SF (btn)

First Time I am Seing ---> Parachute Regiment (Special Forces), XX Btn

[the SF nomenclature came after the Battalion not the Regiment]

Since the WHOLE Parachute Regiment is now Special Forces have 2 different badges seems redundant no?

This used to be the official website of the Para Regt http://www.indianparachuteregiment.kar.nic.in/. It is down now

Apparantly I heard in the interview with Col Kaushal that it was Brig SS Shekhawat who managed to get the wind tunnel at SFTs by dealing with a seperate agency. This, even the Airborne school at Agra never did. Imagine if Brig SS Shekhawat was to be the head of AFSOD. Considering the army politics, I am sure that was never to happen. But if it, our guys would've been on another level
