Hitler is proud to see that his Waffen SS has better helmet than 2023 Indian Infantry
Chosen as per op requirementAre para SF broken into fixed individual teams or do they just pick operators from the pool for ops??
Only one suitable word comes to my mind regarding the top leadership. DISGUSTINGHitler is proud to see that his Waffen SS has better helmet than 2023 Indian Infantry
Pic is damn old I remember few handles saying it as sg but one thing is for sure comtacs is editedView attachment 217249
Is this SG confirmed??
jokers, India is a loser nation.Ye padho zara, everything here is almost accurate, but his interpretation of SG being an elite counter terrorist unit cause it's made of Tibetans is so wrong. SG is made of Indian guys who are on deputation. By the way the book is called "The illustrated guide to the world's top counter-terrorist forces" by Samuel M Katz and it is a must read. He is perhaps the only guy whose travelled the world and actually done good journalism with regards to CT forces. He has some unseen pictures of 1990s Delta and SEAL Team, few of which I saw on JSOC Archive also. Overall this is one of my two favorite encyclopedias on SF

Depends on the unit. Some units would have so called “commando platoons” which was like a super infantry platoon, guess that could be considered the precursor to “Ghatak” platoon.Prahar - jogs something in my memory. But imo there is no formal Ghatak like formation in the Indian Army before the current form. The concept did not exist in the orbat.
What would you consider hostage rescues? NSG has some fine hostage rescue ops.Ghataks are infantry men given specialised training to conduct certain specialist tasks at a battalion level. All IA infantry battalions has a Ghatak platoon (20-30 men) and they operate at the battalion commander’s discretion. So they are more tactical assets than anything, in Western parlance they’d be considered special operations capable infantry sort of like USMC Force Recon (not MARSOC).
SF are meant to be strategic assets used to achieve strategic aims, aside from their CI/CT missions their directions should come from senior levels (HQ level and above)
Almost every SF battalion that has set foot in kashmir have an instance of a few hostage rescue operations being done. As you would've guessed 4 para and 9 para have conducted a hell lot of HR operations in Kashmir exclusively (not counting rest of the J&K in it).....in one such operation, 4 para had to be called in since the RR guys who went for rescueing the hostages were held hostage themselves. What would you consider hostage rescues? but it seems like paras do therole of ghataks and nowadays basic infantry
Infantry guys also have a decent HR record, but the only HR op i know of an infantry man was not in urban setting but in a firstAlmost every SF battalion that has set foot in kashmir have an instance of a few hostage rescue operations being done.
