There is a a Fb page dedicated to Macvsog exclusively run by former Macvsog guys and their relatives.People criticising US SF wont walk past 10km should once in a while visit that page and you will get the idea that Green berets and Seals as part of Macvsog were miles ahead .Almost all of the memebers were injured atleast once and these guys always fought against all odds ie section strength guys fughting company or battalion strength NVA and Vietkongs and carrying out successful ops which were considered suicidal.
But one thing many veterans agree is that the times had changed and now there is threat analysis and analysis of of chances of men getting alive post ops nowdays. And if the ofds are against them nowdays neither Delta nor SF will commit to suicidal ops which was not the case back then.
If anyone thinks that those long range ops capabilities doesnt filtered down to future generations then he is just fooling himself.

The Americans (and Brits) do an outstanding job of maintaining Uni/Operational Memory. Infact failed ops are rehashed to death in training to prevent mistakes in the future as well and enable better decision making under stress

Its 6 years right or just three years?? Btw early NSG guys used to be para qualified as one of my friends dad from non infantry background who was in SAG has got para wings and he said NSG used to make them jump out of aircrafts to para qualify them.He served in mid 90s .Don’t know about present days.
Coming to your opinion on open recruitment of men from all branches to NSG,similar thing should be implemented for Special Group too..It should be open for Navy and IAF guys too like said a million times before it should all have permanent cadre.
Also there should be an R&D team/feedback with in SF ambit to review and give user specified requirements to equipment manufacturers as it is done in US Navy seals and Green berets
NSG is 3 years, SPG is 4-6. No idea about SG but I doubt it’s more than 5

AFAIK there is no boundation for Marcos and Garuds to join SG and few Marcos have served too? But Para always gets the advantage because of their AO

They are also too few to divert resources IMO.
True. And apart from that as good as Para SF are, they have this need to assert dominance imo. And the army leadership also like to flex their muscles over the other branches which would justify the overwhelming number of Paras in NSG and SG. As for the Navy, they are satisfied in being the best in their own business. And Garuds are well, too young.

This has nothing to do with flexing muscle, NSG was formed before Marcos and was formed with the members from SG anti terror sqdrn. Para SF and in general army has a larger pool of members capable of going through probation at NSG and then be selected. And the experience of Para SF in unmatched by any other force in India even Marcos so they get the advantage for SG there is no structural boundation for Marcos or Garuds from getting into SG.

Met a NSG SAG guy..No Garud or Marcos is there even for short term.

Didnt have much time..was ex Para SF guy.

Says Para are the core of NSG..which i also believe.
SAG’s commander is always an army guy. It’s ike saying Garuds and MARCOs aren’t part of RR, obviously because they were never intended to be. They are all empire builders and petty
