I am speaking our strength reaching porkies sq strength in generalized manner not capability but just Rae nos where as being 5th largest economy is shame for us

Why ?? Uk and France were larger economy than us just few years ago ! How many jets do they have??

Paki numbers are a joke since they have stopped retiring old mirage 3-5 which are totally obsolete and barely flying.

Meanwhile a single rafale can perform twice the mission role of Mirage 2000 which can perform twice the mission role of older f7/ m3/ m5 .

Besides we have had a great expansion of surface to ait capacity with akash , mrsam , qrsam and s400 . Which have replaced necessity of point defence fighters like mig21 to large extent.

But I agree to deal with China we need more numbers. But against Pakistan we are already overkill.

We need additional Tejas my friend. The only plane which is currently able to manufacture faster and get it on air. We cannot use our Top most birds like SU-30 MKI and Rafale for Pakis theatre. Chinese theater is a main threat here and these war planes needed there. Having Additional Tejas significantly help us as you can see paki strategic areas are within Tejas range.

Tejas with BVR missiles like Derby, Python can do air dominance role easily and additional ground strike capability will hold a good edge against Pakis JF-17 and F-16 and their military establishment.


Aircraft like Mirage, Jaguar, SU-30MKI, Mig 29, Rafale are needed for Chinese J-10, J-11 and J-20 series of aircrafts.


Again, I am reiterating at peak IAF has 1000+ Mig 21 but the replacement of Mig 21 which become a most potent Light Aircraft in the world was ordered just 123 which is 10% of its aircraft which it is replacing.

Warfare has changed. Thousand of mig type jets are useless in modern battle field so are old strike jets like mirage 3&5.
There are thousands of advanced SAMs in inventory and only aircraft with sophisticated defensive systems can evade them but those aircraft will be very costly ( just like rafale ) and hence numbers are going down for most air forces around the planet.

Chinese are only exception because of their massive economy but even that is hitting a plateau and we can't bankrupt ourselves trying to match a 3 times larger economy in military spending.

We gotta find the balance in quality and quantity.

Regarding copium we don't need it cause we are a goddam nuclear power with thermonuclear icbms. Our enemies can cope.

What happened to TOT now? where are UN generals who has been very vocal about import under 100% TOT??

The only solution is Dismantle Imported AF and dismiss UN generals asap.

Technically we should not have importing spares parts from Russia as everything should be indigenised by now. We often say Chinese copied SU-27 jets which is wrong. China has as similar deal as we have but Chinese worked on it and indigenous 100%

But UN generals keep opposing indigenisation of Su-30mki or any imported equipment in favour of kickback money like Tatra truck deal. These spares parts are actually big source of money. UN generals will be the last set of people who would like to see India Atmanirbhar.

Our imported AF is nonexistent in any upcoming conflict. Better buy lots of Tattu rather than jets. At least Tattu will be helpful for military supply in Himalaya.

We have been placing ancient mig-21 on western front similar to old porkie mirages. It won't be overkill till mig21 are replaced by 100 LCA MK1s and more number of AWACS and tankers are acquired.

Is anyone surprised ? Of course, Russia is in a bad condition, sanctions on critical components & materials are affecting Russia, and definitely, they won't be able to supply either spares or S-400 in the near future.

We have already halted any further defense deals with Russia and started looking for other sources of spares, including local solutions.

Also, this is not necessarily a China-vetoed move. It can be just that Russia cannot manufacture S-400 due to shortage of critical components.

MRFA unlikely to be ever signed. Period.
Any sane govt would force IAF to fill their sq nos by ordering more tejas mk1a, follow on rafale of 36 nos and in the near future with Tejas Mk2 , and in the far future with AMCA, while simultaenously applying hot rods to the a$#s of HAL/ADA etc.. to get the mk2 up and flying sooner than 2026-30 or whatever fantasy date HAL babus give. (And also funding indigenous jet engine dev generously...)

We should assume that the remaining 2 squadrons of the S-400 will be unlikely to be delivered by Russia in the near future, at least not before the Ukraine-Russia war ends.

Till then, we might have to work with 3 squadrons of S-400, perhaps balancing them between northern sector and eastern sector.
