IAI Awarded Multi-Million Dollar Deal for AESA Airborne Self Protection Jammer Pods for an Air Force in Asia

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has been awarded a new multi-million-dollar deal for the purchase of Scorpius-SP Airborne Self Protection Jammer pods with Active Electronic Scanned Array (AESA) technology (ELL-8222SB), for an air force in Asia. Scorpius-SP is based on cutting-edge AESA technology with multi-beam operation – the ability to simultaneously detect and suppress multiple threats in different directions around the aircraft. AESA multi-beam technology provides exceptionally high sensitivity, allowing the system to detect advanced threats including Low Probability of Intercept (LPI) Radar, and very high jamming power for effective suppression of the targets. These capabilities represent a breakthrough in electronic protection and attack, creating the most effective airborne self-protection system available today.
Scorpius-SP utilizes Digital Radio Frequency Memory (DRFM) and a range of sophisticated ECM techniques, providing protection against all types of Air-to-Air (A/A) and Surface-to-Air (S/A) threats in a dense radar-guided weapons environment. Based on IAI-ELTA's best-selling ELL-8222 pod configuration, this compact, lightweight, and aerodynamic pod is similar in contour to A/A missiles and may be installed on outer wing stations of fighters and other aircraft. The jammer significantly enhances aircraft survivability and mission success in today's highly challenging threat environment.
The technology behind Scorpius-SP is based on IAI-ELTA's decades of development and operational experience in AESA technology. In recent years, IAI-ELTA successfully developed AESA to meet the challenging requirements in the domain of electronic warfare (EW), culminating in the Scorpius family of systems that represent the future of EW. Scorpius-SP is the implementation of Scorpius technology for aerial self-protection. Other Scorpius systems include Scorpius-G for ground-based electronic defence, Scorpius-N for naval EW, Scorpius-T for aircrews' live training, and Scorpius-SJ for aerial support and stand-off jamming.

Kai fa50 even colombia bought similar 20 jets with israeli aesa stuff.Philipines is upgrading its air force after chinese ships event.
Both Philippines Air Force and Colombian Air Force order KAI T-50 with Elta EL/M-2052 AESA radar.
They haven't ordered ELL-8222SB jammer.
Currently their seems no evidence that ELL-8222SB jammer is integrated with KAI T-50.
The combination KAI T-50 and ELL-8222SB jammer also seems to be a mismatch, kind of overkill but I could be wrong.
Cost will also be prohibitive for Philippines Air Force and Colombian Air Force to acquire such high tech jammer.

Really bad on part of govt. When it concerns your own men against your enemy even if it is a serious error, you should stand by them come whatever. It is not that Pakistan will stop sending terrorist now
A mistake that could have sparked a nuclear conflict and possibly MAD, should be punished at least this harshly.

IAF guys are most complacent of all 3 I think.. the Fratricide, the complacency after Mig crashes, the procurement paralysis, now this. does not print a pretty picture for a force that has most lethal and high tech weapons
Tbf only the fratricde stands out and possibly this misfire(just how did they manage to do that). Migs are a long result of babudom from IAF and MOD alike. Procurement sucks for everyone.

Another thing I would like to add is that Mig-21 is a very unforgiving aircraft. It is notoriously hard to control, and it takes decades to master it. But if you learn its ways, it will reward you with the kinetics of a rocket and maneuverability of flankers.

Young pilots often fall prey to its high AoA and unusual roll characteristics. Fun fact, you can actually pull a Pugachev's cobra with Mig-21, but due to the lack of FBW like flankers, controlling it is almost impossible.

Yet, against all odds, against all the bad names, IAF pilots just love Mig-21 (not kidding). They consider it the ultimate thrill machine, kind of Royal Enfield Bullet of the air force. They consider newer jets like Su-30MKI and Mirage-2000s as "boring" because they are so easy to fly.
I need to add a few points.

MiG-21 earned the moniker 'Flying coffin' in the late 90s and early 2000s. This was the period when we didn't have an AJT. Green fighter jockeys were transferred straight to a MOFTU which had MiG-21 FL for advanced fighter training after graduating straight from Kirans.

MiG-21 has a takeoff speed of 320-350 kmph and a landing speed of above 300 depending on the variant, fuel load ,weapons loadout and airfield . This high speed landing and takeoff was sometimes too much for the under training novice pilot and this led to many crashes. Besides MiG-21 have horrible handling qualities under 500 kmph. This too led to some accidents .

After the induction of Hawk mk132 as AJT, the no of accidents on MiG-21 per ten thousand hours decreased by a factor of 10.

Earlier, MiG formed the bulk of the fleet. We had over 15 and close to 20 squadrons of MiG-21. They flew the most sorties . And accordingly they had the most accidents . But when the no of flying hours is taken into account, MiG-21 is one of the safest.

Besides, according to people who have flown the MiG-21, it's one of the most forgiving acs to fly. A MiG-21 won't ever enter a flat spin or an inverted spin no matter how hard you try. This has prevented many accidents.

IAF only had 1 accident till now this year. And that too a UM trainer.
