I do agree that T-72 need replacement but it should be incremental and cost effective/ Since India alraedy has an asembly line of T-90. that would be natural chaice, The proposal of Vajra hull with 120mm gun with auto loader etc will be 180 degree reverasl of of known position of DGMF that they have decided for a four crew tank. If three tanks crew is a the new position that means Army deliberately sabotaged Arjun which was ready to redesign and make that as three crew tank thereby reducing about ten ton weight.

Indian army can not afford to go in for fourth or fifth change in tanks while its artillery guns have yet to go for first up gradation and its infantry stuck up with WWI weaponry... No one wins the Wars alone...

If true, this more or less guarantees that Hambanthota won't be used by PLAN. Which means it's a looong voyage from Malacca to Djibouti. And other than SSBNs/SSNs, PLAN is largely marooned in the IOR, and chicom shipping lanes are at the mercy of USN (Diego Garcia) and IN. This would be a very big counterweight against chicom gandmasti in the South China Sea.

What about Maldives....?? a good alternative to Hambantota ??

I think Indian army and CAPF both should go on a recruitment drive. It is time to increase strength of forces. War may not be 'quick' this time but last over years, not days or months. The losses may be high.

Reserves should be activated and retired personnel should be called up for retraining.

As of today, no Maldivian port is ready to serve PLAN in a military capacity. At best they're a way station for medium size merchant vessels. Besides Male is a friend of India, and knows Delhi is keeping an eye on any PLAN activity.

Kavita Krishnan and Rana Ayyub are particularly bad. Not once will they speak up in favour/defense of Hindus or India. Garg Sir. if and only if the CAPF brass particularly the higher ups play the ball. there is no dearth of armed reserves....

However. just reacting to the situation is no stratagem. The Stratagem lies in acknowledging the realities. foresee the contingencies and prepare your resources to meet such a challenge.

Wht is wrong with CAPF ? Nothing whatsoever except that they have deliberetly been kept aloof and far from Military machine of the country. They are not militarily trained and practiced like a cog that would fit into the wheel. In spite of the hard facts that modern internal security and border management threats are absolutely become military type threat in nature and content the world over. the emphasis is on Police culture and ethos.

The Result - They are available in uniforms donned on a physical body and also well armed but not as soldiers who can undertake a military tasks. They have been deliberately rendered militarily useless even as reserves.

Macro effect on National Security structure is that while we do not shy in using Army quite often for Internal Security tasks. using internal security and border management forces to meet external challenges pose massive problems at all levels...

And what is the solution - Give a big Dunda to the stupid and argumentative politician officer cadre of these forces. Make them fall in line. When it comes to soldiers and constables they are all same. Only leadership is what matters.

Why should the country suffer for the sins of MoD. OFB. DPSUs etc which are part of MoD. Straighten them or threaten them or close those damn factories down before going to some private factory and ruining their business. According the bipartisan bill passed in US Congress, it is not just sanctions which are going to be put on CCP officials but also on banks doing business in Hong Kong. In short the bill is saying choose between doing business in New York or Shanghai. If Trump signs the bill it will cut off one of the lucrative routes China used to get foreign currency like dollars and Euros. Many Chinese companies are listed in Hong Kong. Neither palm nor soya can be grown in Nepal. Where do they get it from? OK took help of Google baba. They import then repackage and sell to India.

It is loss of customs duty for India. Prime candidate for a ban. I think there will be a lot of trade rule changes where our neighbors are just taking advantage of tariff differentials.

The port of Hambantota failed because it's business model was based on transshipment business from India. India improved its ports so need for stopping at Hambantota disappeared.

Neighbors need to understand that you cannot take India for a ride anymore.

If Bangladesh or Sri Lanka or Nepal prefer China's slavery to friendship of India; fine.

There is no free lunch specially in diplomacy. You have to pay with interest.

Well the utility of AWACS in the context of India Pakistan is complicated. The distances are too small. Our Su-30 is a mini AWACS. A pair of patrolling Su-30 can build good situational awareness.

India has less number but more capable platforms.
