Mwf production starts in 2027, after min 3 years testing, then lsp, full production starts by 28 if there is no major issue. Also only nag complected tests with some issue, which is fixed by drdo. helina yet to start tests, iaf start test once hal hands over lsp lch to iaf. Ordering 36 more mk1a is good.MWF will enter production in 2026. There is nothing new for significant changes like AMCA or TEDBF. We are already producing the prototype which will come at 2023 (Aero India maybe). Weapons for them also tested before like Astra etc. Radar is also undergoing testing. Unless HAL fucks up everything or IAF decided to ask DEW in MWF we can expect production start from 2026.
Its ADA responsibility to fix issue, hal only screw drive the jet, you can't blame everything on hal.It is never about SAAB or HAL capability. All the critical components like Engines, Radar, Armaments are available.
1. Engine - Already purchased.
2. Uttam radar is undergoing testing.
3. Armaments - Readily planned and integrated with existing IAF birds, simply integrated with MWF.
Again unless HAL fucks up massively or IAF changes requirement this plane does not have any reasons to delay since it is simply a jacked up Tejas.
By replacing Elta Radar with UTTAM radar.1To those crying that IAF should have ordered X number of Tejas mk1 A . So far they have not finished the FOC production run which is waiting on imported systems . In which way could more mk1a s magically appear .. the wording of the committee statement seems that it is not possible for the Tejas to be inducted any faster in greater numbers.
Which is not ready.By replacing Elta Radar with UTTAM radar.
BTW isn't the radome for the uttam(tejas mk2) from UK delayed ?Which is not ready.
It's the other way around. Since the numbers of orders are very less, HAL will stretch the deliveries. Tejas Mk1a contract was signed only an year back. 3 years for delivery after contract signing is standard practise. HAL can't shut shop and supply chain ecosystem. Same reason why the mighty french and Dassault with decades of experience where rolling out just 8 Rafales per year until Indian, Qatari, and other deals materialised.1To those crying that IAF should have ordered X number of Tejas mk1 A . So far they have not finished the FOC production run which is waiting on imported systems . Why not just make it more compact ?View attachment 145523
IAF MRSAM Mobile Launcher System (MLS)
Consists of launch control system (LCS) with 8 canisterised missiles, intra-fire unit comm system for comm with combat management system (CMS) & other necessary equip's, power supply etc
MLS comprises of
1.Towing Vehicle
2.Trailer Platform
Will be readyWhich is not ready.
Which element seems more chonky? Power unit or launcher tubes? Also, aren't AF's demand for mobility are lesser? Why not just make it more compact ?
Why not just make it more compact ?
Now this puts the question of why Akash NG?View attachment 145547
This is the Army variant which is more compact and mobile. Airforce variant does not require it to be as relatively mobile and is based on a trailer and is usually a standalone system placed inside Air bases or areas that require SAM protection.

IAF MRSAM in the process of being dismounted.

Akash SAM in standalone mode dismounted from the trailer.
Ng can act as standalone system too ,plus bit cheaper than your barak 8 , and offers future improvement opportunity , integration ease with indian subsystem , better export potentialNow this puts the question of why Akash NG?
MRSAM is Barak 8 and E-MRSAM will be fulfilled by either Extended Barak 8 or XRSAM (me believes it will be ex-barak 8).
Already Kalyani- Rafael JV is making about 1000 missile for IAF.
it only makes sense for Akash NG to replace s125 and to make up for the mobility of akash 1s. the airframe (NG) is a potential MRSAM.
Akash NG will most likely replace s125 and will be modified to become the 150km missile in the XRSAM system
