Ya'll Nibbiars yous said about that turrets.
Ohhhhh. COmmON SEnsE.....
You look for commonality to reduce logistics, training, spare costs and others. Just imagine Whap with a bmp2 turret with entirely differy ammo and then imagine FICV turret with 30mm nato gun, that's a recipe for zoo right there. For starter we use 7.62 pkt on tanks and 7.62nato mmgs in infantry.😬🤣 Combined arms gya tel lene
I also can't emphasize enough the time again and again people have told me how the IA has practically no money to modernize good enough.

Ya'll Nibbiars After the ammunition fiasco day you think it's possible.
For starter we use 7.62 pkt on tanks and 7.62nato mmgs in infantry.😬🤣 Combined arms gya tel lene, phele tum micro manage Karo yha. There's a lot of nincompoops in india defending IA's foolish decisions while anyone seeing from outside gets his daily share of laugh on the pathetic lack of basic common sense among so called military planners. In some sense we are as pathetic as Pakis.

Bro....this is IA, anything is possible here, reminds me of cyberpunk 2077 starting trailer line.😹

But BEML has showcased new designs of their trucks. Question is how have they indigenized the components of these TATRA trucks over the years?
they have not (despite paying for blueprints just like Bofors), that is what the 2012 scam was all about! Trucks worth 16-18Ls apiece from Tata or AL were bought for 1cr from Tatra Sipox! BEML itself thwarted indigenisation of the flexible axle which is the pièce de résistance of the whole truck.

Tatra Trucks and its history with Indian Army
BEML had signed a contract with Tatra Trucks to supply trucks to Indian Army in 1986. For more than two decades, the company had a monopoly in providing vehicles to the army. In 2010, the Indian government changed the rules of procuring the vehicles for the Army so that other companies could apply as a supplier in open bidding. Tatra trucks are widely used by the Army in transport, artillery and mounted guided missile launchers.

BEML, and the involved Army officials had allegedly flouted norms in this regard because Indian Army procurement guidelines state that all purchases are to be made directly from the manufacturing company.

Tatra is a truck manufacturing company from the Czech Republic. It was alleged that the company sold the trucks to Venus Projects, Hong Kong at a 35 per cent discount. Venus Projects is the trading arm of Vectra Worldwide. The company further sold the trucks to Tatra Sipox Ltd, which is the UK based holding company of Vectra Worldwide. It is owned by Ravi Rishi who is known for several controversies. Ravi, a UK citizen, was also questioned by the CBI in 2012.

While Rishi did not pay taxes on the trucks because of the treaty between the two countries, the price of the trucks went up by 30 per cent. Tatra Sipox then sold the trucks to state-owned BEML after further adding 15 to 20 per cent as profit. BEML offered the trucks to the Indian Army after adding 25 to 35 per cent profit on the price, making the MRP much higher than the original price.

If Tatra sold trucks directly to the Indian Army, it could have offered a 35 per cent discount directly that it gave to Venus Projects. However, because the truck went through multiple channels, the final price went up by 100 to 120 per cent compared to the original price.

Thousands of overpriced trucks sold to Indian Army

It was alleged that in 2010, a lobbyist ex-Lieutenant-General Tejinder Singh met then Army Chief General VK Singh for clearance of a batch of 600 trucks that were supposed to be purchased by the Army. For this, he offered General Singh 14 crore as a bribe. General Singh in an interview said that he was offered a bribe to clear 600 sub-standard trucks for purchase. He alleged that in two decades, the company had already supplied 7000 trucks at an inflated price to the Indian Army.

The inflated price was not for the trucks only but also the spare parts. For example, Jacks for the Tatra truck were available at Rs 3000 at that time, but the Army bought them for Rs 30,000 per piece. Indian companies like Ashok Leyland or Tata Motors could have supplied similar trucks for Rs.16-18 lakhs that were bought from Tatra at around Rs.1 crore per truck.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has strong reasons to suspect that Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML), through a memorandum of understanding with the Ravi Rishi-owned British company Tatra Sipox U.K., during the tenure of the suspended BEML chief V. R. S. Natarajan, allegedly partially surrendered the manufacturing rights of all-terrain Tatra trucks in 2003. The agency might now seek the opinion of the authorities concerned to verify the suspicion.

Investigations into the alleged irregularities in the supply of the trucks through BEML to the Indian Army have so far revealed that based on the 1986 and 1997 agreements with the manufacturers, BEML had gained exclusive rights to manufacture the trucks in India. However, through an MoU with Tatra Sipox U.K. in February 2003, it is alleged that the manufacturing rights were partially surrendered by excluding the axle part of the truck.

The CBI probe has revealed that the public sector unit had in 1986 entered into an agreement with Tatra of the erstwhile Czechoslovakia for supply of Tatra T815 trucks. Simultaneously, under the agreement, documents on technological know-how pertaining to the manufacturing of the trucks were also bought for Rs. three crore. It was agreed that BEML would progressively indigenise the trucks and the target was fixed at 85 per cent indigenisation by 1991.

However, when Czechoslovakia split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia in 1993, the manufacturing company also split into two. While the one manufacturing 70 per cent of the product was renamed as Tatra AS, the other was called Vab Sipox. According to agency sources, investigations revealed that Vab Sipox was gradually privatised and 80 per cent of the company was taken over by Josef Majsky, who allegedly had prior business links with Ravi Rishi.

During the turbulent phase, the supply of trucks was hit, and subsequently Ravi Rishi’s Venus Projects bagged one order of 100 trucks from BEML. It is alleged that Venus was awarded the contract despite the fact that it was neither a manufacturer nor its subsidiary, but a marketing company. In 1994, CBI probe revealed that Venus and Tatra Sipox allegedly came together to set up Tatra Sipox U.K. through a 50-50 partnership. Later, the company was allegedly taken over by Mr. Rishi.

The Slovak-based company, which earlier manufactured the truck axle and backbone tube part, during the correspondences with BEML, allegedly started exerting that BEML could not manufacture the axle as it was a patented product and thus had to be imported.

The agency has found that the agreement for supply of the truck components that was renewed in 1997 reinforced the exclusive manufacturing rights of BEML in India. Also, it allegedly mentioned that the technological know-how documents had been transferred to BEML.

However, soon after Mr. Natarajan took over as BEML chief, the PSU entered into an MoU with Tatra Sipox U.K. allegedly excluding the rights to manufacture the truck axle, thus partially surrendering the manufacturing rights. “The BEML was supposed to import only the components and manufacture the trucks on its own,” said a CBI source.

Investigations have also revealed that BEML had also developed a prototype of the Tatra truck axle, but it was not allowed to further develop it and was allegedly forced to import the axle, causing huge losses to the exchequer.
Interestingly, agency sources said the then Secretary Defence Production had then raised objections asking cancellation of the 2003 MoU. However, the objections were ignored.

Roll out might face delay because of AESA RADOME.
Unlikely, Uttam AESAR is almost done, it's almost ready.

No .. what I think he means is all the sub assemblies have been finalized.
Please read the tweet carefully- 23 milestones and the govt will accept request for funds only when a milestone is reached. So PPU-1 is close to full assembly is my understanding.

Tejas Mk2
The CDR of the system is over, it is ready for FSED, subsystems realization has progressed concomitantly using old budgets & maybe one prototype can be fabricated using the existing allocations made under FSED phase 3 of the overall LCA program but for the full prototyping of the system there will be four prototypes in all with two of them flying the very next year (2024) after the first prototype has flown (2023) and the last prototype following the subsequent year (2025)- that would require fresh allocations & I don't know whether that has happened yet or not. People tell me it hasn't. (ie funds for the first Mk2 prototype are being "managed")

Afaik it doesnt exist except on paper. Dont expect roll out before 2024
You are either misinformed or mistaken- we are talking about Tejas Mk2, not AMCA Mk1.

we need to build something better than akula to counter the next gen of bat munchers subs.

btw what is the proposed displacement of the ssns ??

Regarding reactors, we had leased akula 2 class sub (chakra-2), that had displacement of around 8000 tons, but there was a improved akula called as akula- 3, that had displacement of 12k-13k tons.

So, which akula's reactor are we making ? the one with 8ktons or the another one with 12k tons ??
