I think we are towards saturation type of condition.
Where the cases will come like other diseases normally.

Covid-19 will become Flu disease in coming years which would need normal rest at home and taking seasonal Flu shots.
This is what became of most of Corona-virus family. Russian Flu, Asian Fly, American Flu, most are caused by corona-virus family only and have become seasonal flu around the world now.

Anybody knows what's the ground reality in Kerala. They keep reporting consistent 25k + daily cases while whole Indian reports under 10 k...

I thought kerala have vase experience in handling pandemics.... Be it Sars or ebola... It all start there always.

only reason i can think of is low sero-positivity there. only around 44% infected compared to almost 80% in most other states. So lots more people the chinese virus has to catch up with.

And yes various festivals and traders demands to lift restrictions don't help either.

I think corona flu will need a major attention, where doctors ask to take crocin in case of viral fever. But in corona fever doctor might prescribe the particular medicines.

Dont read much into the Biden admin asking their agencies to probe the Chinese Virus' bio-warfare origins. Its like the regular "clean chitting" happens to the earlier-opposition-now-ruling-party politicians in our country after various scams.
Now that "Apna Banda" has been (s)elected by China to the US, he will engage various US agencies and then those will either give vague reports or give a clean chit to China. This is nothing but white-washing China's crimes against humanity in the eyes of the American public so that they can go back to pumping profits into wall-street without having to guilt trip americans about it.

That's a red herring. The sero positivity survey is itself mostly bunkum because it suggests the number of people infected are humongous. Such numbers would have shown correponding levels of fatalities and certainly would be still ravaging many of the states which were supposedly showing high positivity. Nor if a state had high levels of virus floating about, would it have stopped suddenly with still substantial populations left to infect. Even the supposedly non infected in these states are many times the population of kerala.

Even if one believed the sero study, Assam had similar levels as kerala and didn't have such an outbreak. Kerala's problems seems to be the high population density which are enabling even infections in the vaccinated and possibly the large Muslim population whose vaccination numbers may not be the same as the others , that's a guess but likely a combination of these factors and possibly the relaxation during Eid was a large trigger.

Record vaccination numbers today! Crossing 1 crore is a momentous feat. Kudos to those getting vaccinated and those making the vaccination drive a success.

Excellent. The key is to have a sustained performance like this for many days. Its sad that large states like Maharashtra are at 45% of target vaccination coverage for even 1 dose. UP at 37%.

I dont buy the argument being bandied about how 80% of us are naturally infected and so on. This would have been reflective of the numbers. I dont think 80 crore people got infected and only 3.26 crore out of them showed symptoms and hence were PCR +ve , while the remaining 76 crore were asymptomatic. This tendency to extrapolate results based on small pockets of sero surveillance is leading to complacency.

It can be true. Over 90% of people are actually Asymptomatic. Only 8-10% people shows symptoms and out of these 8-10%, only 1-5% shows severe symptoms and out of these very few perish.

Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare and Chemical and Fertilizer Shri. Mansukh Mandaviya today released the first commercial batch of COVAXIN from Chiron Behring Vaccines facility of Bharat Biotech in Ankleshwar, Gujarat. Shri C R Patil, MP, Navsari, Shri Ishwarsinh Patel, MLA, Ankleshwar, Shri. Dushyant Patel, MLA and Dr. Krishna Ella, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Biotech were also present at the event.



Speaking at the inauguration, Shri. Mansukh Mandaviya said that due to the Hon'ble Prime Minister's vision, India was able to develop its first indigenous vaccine. He remarked that India is running one of the largest Vaccination programs in the world and it was made possible due to the development of these indigenous vaccines. The National Covid-19 Vaccination Programme has been successfully going on across all states and Union Territories since 16th January, 2021, he added


Dedicating the release of the first batch of COVAXIN from Ankleshwar facilities to the Nation, the Union Health Minister said that it is a landmark moment in the journey of India's fight against COVID-19. The increase in the production capacity of COVID-19 Vaccines would give further impetus to the pace of Vaccination in India. He added that it is a matter of great pride for us that the research and production of vaccines of two companies Bharat Biotech and Zydus Cadila took place in India. He also informed that the Ankleshwar plant has a manufacturing capacity of more than 1 crore doses per month starting today.

Talking about India's contribution to the fight against the global pandemic, he mentioned how India has always been on the forefront of helping other countries in need with essential medicines to deal with COVID situation.

Speaking of the status of COVAXIN production in India, the Union Minister informed that Bharat Biotech has already deployed multiple production lines at its Hyderabad, Malur, Bengaluru, and Pune campuses, and the addition of Chiron Behring, Ankleshwar will further augment its COVAXIN production capacity. A new filing facility constructed during 2020 is now being utilized for the production of COVAXIN. The COVAXIN production had begun in early June, before which the team had executed engineering batches to study the equipment functionality at the facility. Products manufactured from Ankleshwar facilities will be available for supplies starting September 2021, he added.

Dr. Krishna Ella, Chairman & Managing Director, Bharat Biotech, said, “Our goal to develop a vaccine with global safety and efficacy standards has now been achieved, we are now marching towards the goal of annualized capacity of ~ 1.0 billion doses.”

Bharat Biotech is also exploring manufacturing partnerships with its partners in other countries, who have prior expertise with commercial scale manufacturing of inactivated viral vaccines under biosafety containment for further augmentation, he added.
