Most villages would do just fine, management would become easy there.

the fact that many are walking home means disease spread concerns are minimal.

yesterday there was news of one chap who travelled 1400 kms to his village.
i fear this post may not age well.

Unlike KL which famously has no villages and infra development is uniform across the state, other states will get overwhelmed when infected migrants reach home and spread it locally.

But i will pray my prediction goes wrong.

Migrant labourers returning to their home states says they will never set their foot in this excuse of a city home to world biggest slum again. For long these so called "rich" states have exploited labourers from poor states and grown their wealth on their expense.

But now it's Yogi time bitchesss :rage:
It will be interesting to see if home states will be able to offer them employment and opportunities. They should. But against popular belief, good portion of these people will come back to Metros like Mumbai, Delhi. We are in post-urbanization phase. People want more than just employment, something intangible that big cities do offer.

Thank you China, we might actually organize our informal sector this time.

A good read here -

If there was no coverup, why is China opposing an inquiry?

Why did China stop flights from Wuhan to the rest of the country after the COVID-19 outbreak, yet allowed international flights to operate from Wuhan, thus facilitating the international spread of the virus? Or why did it recently clamp down on further research by Chinese scientists into the virus’s origins? It instituted a new policy mandating prior vetting after several Chinese research papers highlighted dangerous work on bat coronaviruses, with one study concluding that “the killer coronavirus probably originated from a laboratory in Wuhan.”
Australia is Exhibit A. The country is more economically tied with China than with its security patron, the United States, which explains why it has long hedged its bets. Yet Australia has come under China’s withering attack for merely proposing that WHO member-nations support an independent inquiry into the origins and spread of the coronavirus. Australia said it will push for such an investigation at the WHO assembly (the decision-making body) when it convenes for its annual meeting on May 17.

In response, the Chinese ambassador to Australia has lashed out at his host country, threatening punishment through Chinese boycotts of Australian wine, beef and tourism and education sectors.

The nature of what we are facing is nothing the world has seen, there is really no "plan".
All are reacting and hoping for a miracle and less body bags.
Come on .

This is a minor pandemic ,that has been seen to seriously effect people with existing severe or chronic illnesses , the very old or the obese. So,in fact, it is a bit like the seasonal flu ,which kills tens of thousands of people in the United States annually.

It's nothing in comparison to ,say, the Spanish Flu of 1918 ,which is in a class of its own The 1918 pandemic killed the young and the healthy in their tens of millions - including millions of Indians.

There are some heart-breaking RAW videos circulating showing migrants lying dead by the wayside with children crawling around. Couldn't watch beyond a couple of seconds. I had to stop watching.

Made me pause and recollect 9/11 and the 'jumpers'. What made them 'jump' from such heights?
And what made these poor sods 'walk' unimaginable distances?
Were both these sets of people insane? No. They saw no alternative.
For the 'jumpers' gormint couldn't do anything.
For the 'walkers', gormint could have done a lot and it failed miserably.

We are a nation of big statues and small hearts.
Maybe you haven't seen gruesome accidents in person. I have seen many on national highways. Sad reaity is any mode of transportation involves risks and many gets killed in India, in lakhs , even before migration. Even Govt Roadways buses and trains aren't outside ambit of this hazard, much less the rich in their cars.

Every accident is scary and sad, just that this is being highlighted due to covid-19 crisis.

It will be interesting to see if home states will be able to offer them employment and opportunities. They should. But against popular belief, good portion of these people will come back to Metros like Mumbai, Delhi. We are in post-urbanization phase. Majority of migrants have enough means in their home town. It's greed of earning more and fast that they migrate. Every villager that i have come across boasted of so much "beegha zameen" back home.

To be honest, they enjoy city life in the beginning but start to despise it more with passing time. And this manifested into migrants saying we won't return.

Extenuating circumstances.

Export of non-medical/non-surgical masks of all types (cotton, silk, wool, knitted) is allowed now. All other types of masks falling under any ITCHS code, including HS codes as mentioned, would continue to remain prohibited for exports

WISK was first introduced in the country by Govt. Medical College, Ernakulam and has been replicated by multiple agencies for the safety of healthcare workers involved in COVID-19 management.

The kiosk provides physical and psychological support for the health staff during swab collection and more importantly saves PPE consumption. Navy's suggestion of the WISKs being portable for compatibility in ambulance and helicopters was also catered

We used to import collection swabs at Rs. 17 frm China. Govt contacted the largest Indian polyester manufacturer to locally design swab. Got the design & material approved from NIV & gave manufacturing orders to MSMEs. Today, India manufacturers these at Rs. 2!

This clearly shows how low-life scums these CCP rats are!!
Every passing day it becomes more and more clear how careless if not evil plan was put in action by China. Is this how Xi wants to operate ? Because he is going to be around for a long time.

Meanwhile,human misery continues,

A migrant worker from Chhattisgarh who started walking back home from Kadapa along with his family members including two infants in a makeshift doli. Head Constable Jagdish Kumar saw their plight while at work in Yemmiganur town and arranged vehicle for them #MigrantWorkers
Image

Sunita is inconsolable. Her husband has passed away in Sasaram, Bihar, and she is stuck at Delhi-UP border since last night. Workers/labourers are being stopped here now #MigrantLabour
Image

The #MigrantLabour crisis is an unmitigated disaster. Most on roads and those stuck at state borders have no clue. The government should have established help desks at borders to guide people on how to get transport and provide them relief.

At this juncture, whats the point of lockdown?

Let them die of corona,at their place of choosing,it'll be much more humane :(

We are backing the Aus ?? So I guess it wasn't all talk :

Coalition of 62 nations backs Australia’s push for COVID-19 probe

Australia has secured strong global backing for an independent inquiry into the coronavirus, with 62 nations coming together to co-sponsor a motion calling for the review at the World Health Assembly on Tuesday.

The new draft resolution updates an earlier EU version with significantly toughened language, and is backed by key nations including India, Japan, Britain, Canada, New Zealand, Indonesia, Russia, and all 27 EU member states.
