@hello_10 Russians are more happy with Mig 31 than Mig 35

So they might be upgrade their Mig 31 fleet rather than buying new Mig 35 jets

Boeing to cease C-17 production by 2016...
True but if we can order enough C-17 for us it would be good and C-17 and A 400 are world apart and are of different league i guess.
Where do they fit?
C-17 is 77 Ton load, IL-76 is 48 Ton Load, C-130J is 20 Ton.
So where do a 37 Ton payload fits into?
more over let this system mature a bit then we can think it as replacement for IL-76, till than no.

Modified Dragon Fire II mortar system can do wonders, specially with few more sensors for area defence.

Sled launched re-usable Brahmos rocket.
Use this as a general delivery system, i.e.: supplies(ammo., fuel, etc), including its original function, warhead delivery.
Sled design;
1. modularised, i.e.: 10m sections?
2. monorail or multitrack.
3. assemble track on stilts a la suspension bridge.

Shoot delivery platform(brahmos, etc) straight up to edge of space, 10km or 10 000m.
Sled ejection at 1000m/s would take 10second to hit edge of space, and a merely 5 sec. at 2000 m/s.
Benefit?
1. Accelerating craft to mach 3 or more takes lotta energy.... and with sled system, source would be External to craft and left behind once it takes off.
2. Imagine amount of energy required to accelerate a 100 tonne craft to mach 3 !!
3. Oboard fuel/engine for final approach to target.
Process
1. Mechanical - slingshot, air/steam catapult, hydraulic.
2. compressed air cannon.
3. compressed oxy-fuel rocket
4. turbo-rocket based on (3).

LO/stealth is a waste of money, the ROI is highly questionable...... India needs weapons with plenty dakka.:thumb: , large numbers of rugged low tech but Highly reliable machines.
Pointless to operate a few high end equipment that need to be escorted by half the army/air force !!!:cool2:

Well, India would need to decide if free food is worth getting owned by foreign forces or go hungry for a few days and retain her sovereignty.:cool2:

The sad part about the 'free food' is that it is confined solely to cereals, and that alone, is not nutritious!

Imagine...........
Proposal 1

1. Air force sells such 'old' planes(with much useful life left in them) to select flight academies.
2. Academy selects and trains 'air force material' type trainee pilots.
3. AF selects graduate pilots who make the grade.... and academy is paid Only for pilots picked.
4. Efficient management of training fund, optimised by private sector, and AF gets bigger bang for its buck. :thumb:

what do you guys think.:cool2:

Ray, this isn't something to feel sad about, rather it should make every caring/patriotic Indian feel enraged.
Billions spent and program still needs to be maintained? :frusty:
Seems that most social 'activist' are more interested in turning Jesus and hand out baskets after baskets of fish, rather than becoming a Fishing guru:p
Someone is smiling all the way to the bank. :cool2:

It's a little OT, thought this might help to 'explain' why fund is always 'short' when it comes to national defence needs. :namaste:

Re: What military equipment would YOU like to see in the Indian Armed

I would like to see simplee cheap but effective weapons like RPG7s,more PKMs,reflex sights for standard rifles like AK and INSAS, and more helicopters in support and rescue roles in CT ops.
RPG7s are more light than carl gustavs and shipons plus,it needs just one man to operate and could carry 5 rounds by the operator itself, where as in case of carl gustavs even though they had more power it need two man crew and more heavy.More over RPG7 can fire most number of types of warheads than any other type of rocket launcher.
PKMs are lighter than brens and mag58s and are more reliable.
Providing reflex sights for those RR and COBRA guys will definitely enhance their lethality and marksmanship.
Providing more helicopters for ct ops means we could save many valuable lives
