Su30 in iaf excercise has played the role of communicator and cuer . The second pilot immensely. Bars still have highest range among all the other fighters in iaf. And after upgrade an aesa might make it even more capable. So in absence of proper AWACS at a theatre it is su30 with twin pilot which will lead the communication / coordination .
Communicatpr/cuer is a lot different from co-ordination. It is in WSO's domain of expertise to classify and cue attacks on targets but i don't think he has all the equipment to co ordinate a complex mission flight. Thats what the job of a BACN is.

Rajnath Singh to inaugurate induction of Su-30 fighter squadron

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh would inaugurate the induction ceremony of Su-30 fighter squadron at the Air Force Station in Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu, Air Marshal Amit Tiwari said on Wednesday.

At a press meet here, Tiwari said this would be the second frontline fighter squadron of the Indian Air Force (IAF) to be based in South.

The induction ceremony would take place on January 20 and the fighters would have the most potent platform capable of long reach and multi-role capabilities, he said.

The maritime strike squadron inducted in the IAF is also armed with the indigenous Brahmos missile, Tiwari said.

The IAF had earlier announced the resurrection of the 222 Squadron, the Tigersharks on January 1 with the Sukhois.

The squadron was originally raised on September 15, 1969 with another Sukhoi fighter, the Su-7, and later with the MiG-27 ground-attack aircraft.

The newly resurrected 222 Squadron would be operationalised with Brahmos-equipped Sukhoi-30 air superiority fighter with twin engine, the officials said.

"The Indian Ocean Region (IOR) which is a central maritime spread, bordering three continents, has an important role to play in regional peace, security and prosperity.

The IAF is an intrinsically strategic force and is set to extend the reach into the vast IOR," Tiwari said.

The 'Tigersharks', equipped with formidable, state-of- the-art air superiority fighter aircraft, which are armed with 2.5 ton air-launched BrahMos missile of 300 km range, have the capability to strike from large stand-off ranges on any target at sea or on land with pin-point accuracy by day or night and in all weather conditions.

The capability of the missile, coupled with superlative performance of the Su-30 MKI, is set to change the paradigm of maritime surveillance, security and strike in the region

When Brahmos-NG is ready they're supposed to carry 3 of them.

Tamil Nadu's Thanjavur district will be home to a lethal fighter squadron that will play a key role in keeping China's growing clout in the Indian Ocean region in check. On Monday, the IAF commissioned the 222 squadron, also known as 'Tigersharks', for their Thanjavur base. The squadron has six Sukhoi-30 specially modified fighter jets, each carrying the 2.5 tonne air-launched supersonic BrahMos cruise missile.

Now, Frankly speaking, I am not well hopeful of MKI. This is getting obsolete very fast. It is huge and powerful but technology wise getting outdated very fast. Its RADAR is old so as EW. It has a huge RCS, It has a big size. All these are odd for contemporary aircraft. . Reducing RCS to 1 or 2 Sq meter, putting a very powerful radar. replacing EW with latest one will delay its insolence. We must stop buying this one immediately. We need more and more Tejas MK2/MWF.
Russian Fighters if observed closely doesn't boast "all aspect stealth", they never were designed for that, its an old cold war era design. The purpose they serve is simple... multirole. Since geographical coverage of Russia is huge (even post soviet era collapse) they were designed to have long range, more armament and able to switch role. Russians believed that rather than having slew of jets for each role, create one fighter, make it good and make it in large numbers.

More importantly, they were designed to "out maneuver" missiles from a distance. Missile lock can be dodged, it's proven in Balakot air action. EW doesn't work that well, especially with radar homing and jammer homing missiles. AMRAMM 120c or120d can home on target even if it's being jammed, so the only possibility I can think of is that our pilots out maneuvered those missiles by bleeding it's energy. SU30MKI were flying at very high altitudes, if the missile lock did happened they would've made a hard-turn, dive sideways very fast and later sustain increase of AoA envelope until the missile bleed its energy.

Since when were Soviet fighters designed to be multi-role? It was more of an after-thought than an actual design choice.

I think half of keyboard warrior's do t know shit about MKI even its our main stay fighter let me enlighten all of you (even after 3 pages usual wild cry will start anyways let's do it)

When mki introduced to IAF it was more superior in Asia region even US given hasty discount for red flag excerise to just get it glimbs, rather than its maneuverability and agility its radars and avionics still stands best

When IAF choose mki their idea was to make a best by fusion of two world's avionics from Israel aircraft from Russia
And even it was so fckingcomplex at that time it ew system still credible ew means it not just jam the signal it have the ability to ping back the radar pings in multiple time cycle which will trigger pulse dollar radars to think more than one aircraft present even normal amram up to aim 120 c , yep currently su30mki need upgrades it lacks mwas and more long range aam but if u look to past DRDO and other priv8 firms build more credible things for super sukoi the only thing stopping us from doing it budgets and relvence in current threat level, none of pak aircraft equpoed with effective counter to su30mki ew system even their dedicated ew system are decade old , the range of aam can be solved by emergency purchase of improved aam of same family( the sales mostly proxy by different aam to delay or Deny info about the real purchasing) , if my calculations are correct the sup. Mki deal will sing after 2023 or early 2024 becoz that was the time frame where PAF will get aesa powered decent aircraft with improved long range aam, now about chinki side I almost 90% sure chinki won't or don't want a direct conflict with India becoz which will easily get escalated and a third party like amerki get interested in it, also with fancy CGI and colour scheme never a def or mil product became superior when operationalized, for eg why PAF giving repeated orders or sabb 2000 than chniki one it shows the quality understanding abt China mal from PAF side also I hope due to Saab advanced AWAC it better suited and more efficient than chinki one the only role they given coastal air petrol for chinki mal may shows its inability to operate under high clutter theatres like Hilly or ew strong area like jk,

Finally about PAF 27 th drama ( little bit off topic but any one want feel free to cross post on mig21 thread becoz am lazy to write sperate) all the dram they showed they intensionally missed target they also said it was less than 2 min op to show their fast shift response so consider this u flying a upgraded mirage 5 or jf17 with h4 or similar sow when u fire in an activitie combat scenario u shoot and scoot and the pgm have speed leat of .8 mach also eta less than 2 min so in order to manually cntrl pgm u have to loft or in auto ploit during this time u can't make evasive maneuver this is true if h4 fired and any qrf fighter in scene can shoot down these birds with r77 or r73 becoz they can't multi task both at same time this will also show the false bravado in a professional forces( ment to be)

So for all of u stop being whinny bicths and enjoy paki propaganda shows its hilarious that they try to make so much put of t
