If it is decent can it replace the standard issue of our Army?
There is a kahawat,
'You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink',
guess our army is that adiyal ghoda that don't see much usefulness in equipping soldiers with pistols except CI guys or afsars or other specialised roles, reasons being limited offensive capabilities in a typical pistol and so,
giving them a motive//motivating them to replace those (mostly still workable) Pistol 9mm 1A is a bigger challenge than actually giving them a desi replacement pistol in my view,
otherwise we would've already gone Glock way as standard issue thing here...and in most cases they have supplemented those needs with MP-9 machine pistol-SMG here as it's compact enough to be used as a pistol-like thing on semi auto, if not that then Glocks, Beretta PX-4 and IWI Jericho etc...
so yeah...

A piecemeal order contain between 50 to 500 units so you can calculate.

In next war, IA soldiers will end up carrying 10 types of ammunitions and Dalal will term it as a master stroke instead of logistic nightmare.
All the new snipers are of same caliber- 338 lapua.
There was a .50 rifle bought in anti material role.
Lots of commonality, sigs+mmg+lmg all are of 762 nato
Aks- 762x39 standalone, expected to be main caliber
762x54 rounds restricted to tank mmgs and dragunovs, wont give much logistic trouble.
Insas 556

Thats it. Could it be better? Sure, but its going to happen over time. 556 and 762 x39 duality cant be avoided till we switch completely to AK platform. Then only rounds to be concerned of - 762 nato and 762x39. Rest are specialty ammo which can be handled easily.

Having same calibre won't change the logistics issue, you are buying fundamentally different guns for the same role. It'like buying Israeli ACE, russian AK, Czech CZ 805 BREN or vz 58 all 7.62 for the same role but different in terms of training equipment and internals.

What will happen if your buddy carrying cz experience malfunctioning while you are carrying ACE during combat ?

Except for snipers, which are the other rifles with same purpose? I dont see any except ak+insas, which will stay awhile.

What will happen? It's been happening since a long time.

I've seen patrolling party of CRPF comprising four men armed with INSAS, Arsenal, SLR and Carbine.
Yep what will happen sir ? Standardization is must. We haven't been to a war for 20 year and we haven't been to a proper all out war for like 50 years we haven't tested our logistic capabilities to it' limits for 50 years to put that into perspective I'm just 19.
