We don't need Agni 5 for cold start.
well we need unless until we will able to hit them at there home so that equation will be equall now china has upper hand

agni5 will give us more effective option

isn t it a part of confidence building measure, to notify other country in case of ballistic missile test...
only Pakistan 24 hours before the test, so that they dont mis understand the test, their is also no fly zone at the area where test takes place, we do inform other like US, UK, Russia etc, but their is no treaty or international obligation to inform them.

Plus such test in our case allow us to monitor what progress Pakistan has made in missile, specially with AWAC now with IAF.

The confidence at which DRDO has stated Prahaar and the spin off from AAD programme, will be good news waiting to brake.

isnt cold start more of using conventional power under a nuclear overhang...which does mean agni 5 will add weight to it but cold start doesnt form around it..unlike prahaar...

Agni 5 is never going to be targeted on Pakistan , it's wasteful to use a long range missile in such a scenario! the missiles intended for use in a pakistan war scenario are the prithvi and Agni 1(also prahaar once it comes into usage), any longer range missile would have to be launched using a "dog's leg bend " trajectory where it would have to fly out over the Arabian sea before executing a bend and then coming in over the sea to Pakistan. however a longer range missile could provide more of an element of surprise when being launched from southern India against Islamabad.

Agni 5 is designed to fill a deterrent role against china.
Prahaar is designed for punitive first strikes against high value targets in Pakistan complementing the Brahmos and lo a lesser extent the prithvi and Smerch pinaka duo.

Don't get confused between weapons for Pak and those targeting china. Cold start is a doctrine for Pak and to be conventionally fought. You don't need an ICBM for pak. Waste of money and also we are not going to use A5 with conventional warhead. We don't intend to go nuclear with Pak, first anyways.

Weather is the spoiler, can't do test in stormy weather, the telemetry didn't get accurate results
