Agni 1 too obsolete now with the introduction of Shaurya.
Yusuf A2 with fins is old, A1 is relatively new, made after 1999 kargil war for Pakistan.

Cannisterised Shaurya better than A1. Allows more flexibility. We have got sufficient level of miniaturization to fit a decent warhead on it for a quick and precise strike from a missile that will be hard to detect for Pak at least.

A2 will get replaced with A4.

Does that means they may not field WS2?
There is no comparison between Nasr and WS2. Nasr is a tactical missile system while WS2 is a MBRL. Pakis may well get WS2.

A1 cannot be replaced this sooner, It alone cover all Pakistan at shorter ranges while A2 can be engage from further far ranges..

Indeed newer generation system will replace other slowly..

As a direct alternative to Prahaar, WS2 would be imported against home made Prahaars. So less likely unless they want to reduce some weight from their already starved pockets.

But still it can complement A-1, considering its high mobility.

Errr... I mean the Shaurya.

A1 is not a complementary system to the Shaurya. Shaurya is new gen missile and will eventually replace A1 as trials are completed and sufficient numbers are produced

eventually as A-1 phase out but not any time sooner.

True for now, though A1 also are very mobile let it be rail or road..

The shaurya on other hand, Are very different in design and operation..

Shaurya are more like PJ-10 and operating in similar way..

=================
=================

Shaurya are deign for tactical ops mainly and secondary nuclear where as A1 is design for nuclear ops mainly and secondary tactical ops..

Tactical ops = Providing precision fire-support to Local Ground commanders..
Nuclear Ops = Strategic nuking of enemy facility and related to physiological warfare..
@sayareakd Sir..

Many sources in West give a figure of 60-80 bombs, and plutonium of 0.54 ± 0.18 tonnes.

It seems even Pakis are ahead with 90 bombs approx.

Red Dragon has approx 200+.

Maybe the powers that be consider the smaller but still significant numbers, along with a reliable delivery system, as viable.

As of 2008, we had 12000 kgs of reactor grade Plutonium fit to make 600 bombs in reserve and over 250 devices of various sizes ready for use. part of this stockpile will now be used for FBR to accelarate our nuke program.

Yusuf for nuke strike we have all the time in world, plus for thermo nuke package for A1-2 you dont need very precise strike just explode it near target. Plus tech for A5 type of system will have tech reaching for other old A series.

@Kunal sir i am aware about tactical and strategic role.

i think where we screw up is the fact that prithvi is for tactical and nuke role.

hope some of the retired missiles will be given to Vietnam.

They are looking into Klub system for there defense and 100% Russian fans ,

Prithvi will be replaced But slowly, Its still very dangerous system considering the foe does not have BMD and these can fall in with 1000kg HE warhead..

hope some of the retired missiles will be given to Vietnam.

@sayareakd Sir..
Makes no sense to use a 700km range missile in tactical role especially when the missile will be under SFC and require authentication for launch

Re: Prithvi missiles to be replaced by more-capable Prahar: DRDO

Shaurya is a attempt of Indian version of Iskander in terms precision but longer range as per Indian needs, Its a multifunctional Missile..

"I would say the Shaurya a hybrid propulsion missile", says Dr Saraswat. "Like a ballistic missile, it is powered by solid fuel. And, like a cruise missile, it can guide itself right up to the target."

Making the Shaurya even more capable is its ability to manoeuvre, following a twisting path to the target that makes it very difficult to shoot it down. In contrast, a ballistic missile is predictable; its trajectory gives away its target and its path to it.
It will serve not only with SFC, But Army as well in near future..

Still a 700km range tactical missile doesnt make sense. Can be achieved with prahar or prithvi.

Look at the Chinese side, It will make perfect sense, Prahaar is good counter-counter battery..

sir we can put some of the Prahaar missile on underground sites, these can be easily hidden.

You can say Sir, from ' Dug in Positions ' ..

Where there is a trench dig in to fit such a system and slope made at end of that trench from where the system will get out / in ..

sir we can put some of the Prahaar missile on underground sites, these can be easily hidden.
