Ajay Shukla is out of his head. India shouldn't delay MMRCA any further, lest we send across a message that we're window-shopping. Nobody will respond to RFIs tomorrow.

Guys,

this may not be a right context, but i am little curious to know.
why are we buying two different types here ? Both the heavy transport aircrafts, why cant we go with just one type?

"India is contemplating the purchase of 10 C-17 Globemaster III aircraft for USD 5.8 billion, six additional C-130J Super Hercules aircraft, in addition to the six already ordered for over a billion dollars, and four additional P-8I long range maritime aircraft for over a billion US dollars, in addition to the eight already on order for USD 2.2 billion. Besides this, India is conducting trials for the purchase of the BAE Systems-built M777 Ultra Light Howitzer through the Foreign Military Sale (FMS) route."

^^you are right this is not the place to ask, ask in relevant threads or in private to senior members they can help you.
c17 is heavy lift and c130j is medium lift.

Czech Gripen squadron winners at NATO Tiger Meet

211th tactical squadron from the Czech Air Force with their Gripen fighters received the prestigious Silver Tiger Award to the best squadron during the recently held NATO Tiger Meet 2010.

The Czechs completed 664 tasks over a number of sorties during the two week long NATO Tiger Meet and proved their qualities in dozens of simulated air duels, in rescue operations in aid of downed pilots, in seeking and destroying important targets in the opponents' rear and as protection of helicopters with paratroopers.

"Our training program and our skills, in conjunction with Gripen has allowed us to win this important award. The reason why Gripen was a star of Tiger Meet is its ability to solve the tasks at the longest possible distance – without a direct dogfight with the enemy" said the Commander of 211th Tactical Squadron at ?áslav Air Force Base, LtCol Jaroslav Míka in Czech Television.

Positive image of Gripen
"I'm very proud and happy on behalf of the Czech squadron. It's an important and prestigious award they have received. When our customers perform as well as the Czechs have now done it also provides a positive image of our aircraft and further increases our reputation"says Bengt Littke, Program Director for Gripen in the Czech Republic.

The NATO Tiger Association
The NATO Tiger Association (NTA) brings together units from all over the world that have a tiger or other big cat in their logos or emblems. The large-scale international exercise, NATO Tiger Meet intended by the association to strengthen the ties between its members took place between 4 and 15 October at the Royal Netherlands Air Force air base of Volkel. All of the other participating squadrons during this year Tiger Meet recommended the Czech 211th tactical squadron for the award.

No need to get another 'White Elephant' into our room, this is quite unrealistic Idea, as I also agree with Tarun, better expedite the whole 'M-MRCA' process as soon as possible, and avoid both US made aircrafts.

f- 35 are under development apart from it they are 5th gen acs still they come between 4.5 gen and 5th gen acs . apart from its delivery date is very late especially going wth india's trial record this will further delay the date of induction of the planes .
so its better to continue with mmrca. if IAF requires F- 35 it can run parralel wth MMRCA becoz IAF do not lack funds in todays scenario.
nyways we will be gatting our own 5th gen ac so why wait and request for nyone else's ac.

Migs are useless as of now. They donot have a reliable engine and Radar is also not that good .Infact Mig was never in race. We will rather concentrate on getting more Su30 instead.

F/A-18s will simply be brought because of the sub-servience of MMS government to Obama's lordly aura. There's no reason why we should have something that solely depends on its radar and nothing else. SH will come only if ACM Naik is satisfied with all the tech transfers that are highlighted in the contract and knowing US attitude, I can bet that SH is not coming. The race is simply between Typhoon and Rafale. IAF would prefer to pay slightly higher and retain critical tech rather than being made to dance around by another country for 1/4th of its fleet.
