IIRC T64 was only ever issued to Russian and E German units. T72 for export? T80 improved on them all and then came T90.

Years spent looking at track/wheel layouts, fume extractors and where the snorkel lay ;)
Т- 72 was a "mobilizational tank". He costed in three times cheaper Т- 64 and 7! time cheaper Т- 80.

Kunal did mention a few posts back that those are actually storage boxes which are filled with concrete blocks (which offer some protection). But looking at the pictures I'm more inclined to believe that they are actually armour modules. We need more pictures of MK 2 (closeups) to accurately determine that. Also I wonder why didn't they up-armour the gun mantel as well (similar to the T-90 MS/ Leopard 2A5)
Also that picture isn't the complete MK II, We're yet to see the complete package fitted with the RCWS + APS + Commander's Sight + that Radar (boxy thing on the right).

Sorry Kaustav. These are storage boxes, hatches to them are clearly visible. Bolt on armor modules do not have these.

However I agree that more photos of fully complete tank are needed for closer look.

Yes Methos it is. It's typical and unfortunate... but also have a purpose, increase morale of own people, and it is sort of a PR to help for exports.

I will not argue whose tank is better. Actually I do not agree with the article. Well at all - this rating - for politicians but not for servicemen. Not always tank which winsin a tender bought in according to the desire of specialists. Т- 90 and Leopard-2 sold tanks in the world. But it not well then so, that him standard. It is impossible straight to compare the types of machines. Chile bought in Leo-2А4, and Peruvians in reply, able to propose more cheap alternative of T - 55M8A2 Typhoon. For their locality he befits better. But politicians and he was not purchased. So, all disputes about that whose tank is the best simply useless.

Better view..

Definitely unmanned turret..

& a 30mm Gatling gun ?
3 men crew. Interesting design indeed, better suited for urban and mountain warfare with better + elevation of weapons?

BTW as I said, seems that this is not UVZ "Armata", something else.

What is the most interesting is that model of new Russian tank (if it is "Armata" or not) do not have ERA cassettess or modules. It is possible that Russians just took a western approach to vehicle protection and instead of a low thickness composite armor with ERA they choose high thickness composite armor without ERA?

The same is a not copy, and only model. Sharp of change of weight will not be. For this purpose it is necessary to change all logistic of army.

Yes this is truth, but still. Russian goverment and high rank officers seems to be at least in fascination of western weapon systems, and they might force industry to abandon old traditions and choose the western path of further armed forces and it's weapons systems evolution.

But soon these hill-generals will take off rather, what an army will pass to the Western standards. Poland how long time in NATO, all fly Мi- 2, shoot is Dana and soldiers are armed АКМ!

Not true. Mi-2 is allmost non used, most of them replaced long time ago. Dana is a good SPH but will be replaced. We have Krab tracked SPH, there will be Kryl wheeled SPH. Our soldiers do not use AKM, it is used only by second line units or are storage. In fact Polish Army currently use wz.96 Beryl, and it will be replaced in regular service by MSBS-5,56.

wz.96 it is modernization of wz 88 (Polish variant of Ак- 74) under a cartridge 5,56. But it let us discuss in other stream.http://defenceforumindia.com/forum/land-forces/3796-assault-rifle-89.html
