IMHO Chinese are not to be trusted, this might just be a tactic by them to get the element of surprise when they launch an attack.
Strongly agree. But we should also respect China, as they showed the right gesture. Now shitty news channels will create a ruckus "Darr Gaya Dragon".

Sikkim standoff: China says situation ‘grave’, no scope for compromise with India

In unusually blunt remarks, China’s ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui said on Tuesday, “the ball is in India’s court” and it was for the Indian government to decide what options could be on the table to resolve the standoff.

Interesting development... Possible war situation.... Backing down now will seriously hamper image of India.. So no compromise on that.. Let's prepare ourselves for a skirmish if not war...

Uh, I think somebody is misreading the news. Chinese are insisting on the Indians to withdraw troops from so called Chinese territory.

NEW DELHI: China today said there was no scope for a "compromise" in the military standoff with India in the Sikkim section, and put the onus on New Delhi to resolve the "grave" situation.

In unusually blunt remarks, China's Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui said "the ball is in India's court" and it was for the Indian government to decide what options could be on the table to resolve the standoff.

Asked about remarks by official Chinese media and think- tanks that the conflict can lead to a "war" if not handled properly, the ambassador said in an interview to PTI: "There has been talk about this option, that option.

It is up to your government policy (whether to exercise military option)." The Chinese government is very clear that it wants peaceful resolution at current state of the situation for which withdrawal of Indian troops from the area is a "pre- condition", he asserted.

However, he made it clear that there was no scope for a "compromise" on the issue. "The first priority is that the Indian troops unconditionally pull back to the Indian side of the boundary.

That is the precondition for any meaningful dialogue between China and India," he said. China and India have been engaged in a standoff in the Dokalam area near the Bhutan trijunction for past 19 days after a Chinese army's construction party came to build a road. Doka La is the Indian name for the region which Bhutan recognises as Doklam, while China claims it as part of its Donglang region.

China and Bhutan are engaged in talks over the resolution of the area. Bhutan, however, has no diplomatic ties with China and it is supported militarily and diplomatically by India. "The situation is grave and made me deeply worried.

It is the first time that Indian troops have crossed the mutually recognised boundary and trespassed into China's territory, triggering a close range face off between Chinese and Indian border troops. Now 19 days have passed, but the situation still has not eased," Luo said.

He also asserted that India has no right to interfere with the China-Bhutan boundary talks, nor is it entitled to make territorial claims on behalf of Bhutan. On the standoff, the Ministry of External Affairs had said India was "deeply concerned at the recent Chinese actions and has conveyed to the Chinese government that such construction would represent a significant change of status quo with serious security implications for India".

"As for the so called 'security concerns' of the Indian side, India has crossed a delimited boundary into other country's territory in the name of security concerns, no matter what kind of activities it conducts there, which will not acceptable to any sovereign state. "India cannot encroach upon the territory of other countries on the ground of its 'security concerns'.

Otherwise, the world would be in chaos," the Chinese envoy added. He also asserted that "it is critical that India shall withdraw its troops immediately to minimise the negative impact. It serves the interests of the two sides."

He also noted that the current standoff was of different nature from the previous frictions between the two countries, and said it was the first time that such a severe situation has occurred at the Sikkim section of the China-India boundary.

It could be a Chinese tactics to gauge the timing of Indian response in military terms. How long it took for India to arrange for troops in requisite numbers in forward areas. These Chinese take note of everything. Next time this situation arises, we should fly our jets near their ships in IOR loaded with missiles to take on their ships. Brahmos can be scary for them. We need to map all the targets so that when time comes, We have experts that can decide the suitable response for each target type. It reminds me of football game wherein there is 1:1 player.

They are insisting that India withdraw their troops! I don't know why people are misreading their response.

Increase activity to Japan and vietnam. China will get message.
Besides Chinese media is a tool used by CCP to test waters and send subtle messages aka propaganda. Not worth it.

Yup, if this is a true gesture we should reciprocate, nobody wants a useless war. At the same time, we should be vigilant as well. India of today cannot win a prolonged war with China, a limited border war there are chances we might win but anything more we cannot. They will fire 100 missiles at us for every 1 missile we fire at them.

What I don't understand is that why are so many members apprehensive about China's posturing. I feel time is right to give a middle finger to China
And modi is giving just that. Imagine leader of a country will never go on foreign tour if situation was not under control. Chinese whores are crying and wailing because modi is showing them their aukaad.
He's going about his business and chinks are whimpering. There are threatening india with every scenario. India is just not interested in reacting. This is very refreshing from the earlier patloon wetting congis used to do.
Wonderful policy adopted by the current goverment

Luo Zhaohui is not speaking like a diplomat. He should pack his bags and leave. He can issue threats from China. He cannot hold diplomatic immunity in our country and be rude to us.

Itanagar: An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter, which was on a flood victim rescue mission, with three crew members on board, went missing near Sagalee in Papum Pare district of Arunachal Pradesh today, the defence officials said.

The Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) lost contact soon after its take off from Sagalee at around 3.50pm before the rescue mission, Defence PRO Lt Col Sambit Ghosh said.

The IAF chopper was rescuing people, stranded at Sagalee due to landslides, triggered by rains.

People in the chief minister’s office here said chief minister Pema Khandu was monitoring the situation. Directives have been issued to the administration and the police to extend all possible help in the search and rescue operation. The villagers have also asked to help the administration in locating the missing chopper, the people said.

I think we are seriously misreading the Chinese here. They already had a road on the western end of Doklam plateau but it would require serious risk taking to attempt to gobble up the whole Doklam plateau which they were doing when Modi visited Trump. Why would they take the risk now? Is it because Jinping feels humiliated that India did not send its emissary to bow down to emperor Xi during OBOR conference.but is kinda bowing down to Trump as India for all practical purpose has accepted Junior partner role to US?Do they feel humiliated at not being recognized as America's equal? Something is going seriously wrong on Sino Indian border and I am pretty sure we are likely to see limited war on both Indo-pak and Sino Indian fronts soon. The idea would be to humiliate India and stop its growth trajectory as well as kick out US from Asia if US cannot help us out which they wont. We are unfortunately 10 years late in our military buildup thanks to useless Congress.

Also watch Xi's visit to Russia carefully. Is it to convince Russia to halt spares to Indian military in case war breaks out?
