This is as predictable as the Chinese can get. One thing to understand here is that the Chinese are playing to their strength - numbers. They are playing the numbers game here where they think they can overwhelm any opponent. But what I don't get is what they are trying to achieve by all this showbaazi/bravado against a formidable opponent like India. This is getting interesting. Or is it the case of "Kahin pe nigaahen kahin pe nishana" for Chinese?Amid border stand-off, Chinese ships on prowl in Indian Ocean

really you have to give it to the Chinese they quote " unequal treaties " when it suites them as I have mentioned one of the "historical" lessons that the reds in pinking are quoting is the Calcutta convention of 1890 especially article 3 but the ROC the Predecessor state of the PRC thereby the PRC was delisted of its responsibilities under Article III of the Calcutta convention by the 6 th schedule of the Shimla convention of 1914 between British India ) the lamadom of Tibet and the republic of china"China is trying its best to use historical lessons to reason with India and show sincerity in peacefully solving the problem, but if India refuses to listen, then China would have no other choice than to use a military way of solving the problem," Hu Zhiyong, a research fellow at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, told the state-run Global Times

and yet for them the Mac mohan line is also illegal
I have to disagree with you here. There are dedicated formations for each sector. So there's no question of dividing our resources and spreading them thin along the borders. In my opinion, I don't think the Chinese are planning a full scale war. What they want to do is to make our Eastern borders as tense as LOC, which will require us to further divide our resources and spread them thin across both the borders. This would greatly hurt our capabilities on the western front, allowing for more infiltration, and a more aggressive pakistan.
Chinese reaction after we showed our iron fist to them....
