The Army responded to an RTI petition. So, everything written in the RTI response is the official and legal position of the Army.

More than 4,500 soldiers have lost their lives in ceasefire violations along the LoC in Jammu & Kashmir since 2001, the Army said in reply to an application filed under RTI.

Actually the above figure includes deaths from All causes among army throughout India since 2001.

Actual border firing casualties since 2002-15 are:

Thats my point ,army's RTI reply may not break down casualties in terms of firing on LOC, terror attacks ,accidents. 4500 is total casualty count in all army including accidents , Siachin, terror in kashmir, north east, firing. The media only quoted the Barve guy. RTI replies often do not give details which is why RTI itself needs to be reformed or disbanded. Giving cumulative info is meaningless

No the casualties are well known in military circles. On April 17 they lost 15 soldiers and the video is on you tube. The panzgam terror attack and KG beheading were a response. Then they lost 10-12 on May 9 counterstrike by IA in Nowshera in which 4-5 posts were destroyed. 27 bodies of PA buried silently. Thats why I say start deploying Dhanush on LOC in large numbers and kill 270 not 27. Let them hide 270 dead bodies

"A Border Action Team of five to seven heavily-armed men, under the cover of Pakistani firing, entered 600 meters inside the LoC in Gulpur forward area in Poonch sector around 2pm yesterday and launched a fierce attack on Indian Army patrol party with several types of weapons," the official said.

"The body of the intruder killed in the BAT attempt on 22 June has been retrieved and handed over to the local police," a senior Army officer said.

"Arms, ammunition and other war-like stores including a special dagger and a headband with a camera, knife, one AK rifle, 3 magazines, 2 grenades besides dresses and bags were recovered which reflects the barbaric mindset of the Pakistan army," he said.

"The resolute action of our soldiers didn't let the nefarious plan (of mutilating bodies and recording it on camera) succeed," officer said.

The officer said it is matter of investigation whether the camera was live connected with Pakistan army establishments across the border.

"The data and details of the camera will be analysed," he said.

"We are confident that another BAT member has also been killed but his body was taken back by the other members of the BAT," he said.

They are SSG for sure ( in black outfits)...on deputation to CAD(ISI) the Army units at local sectors are probably is unaware of the operations till the last minute when they are asked to give cover fire. This is how they manage to infiltrate and protect leakage of info.

Thanks! I was going by what Wikipedia mentioned. But I wonder if this figure includes ALL types of casualties including Siachen where max troops lost their lives due to the elements.

Our LoC patrols and SF are also capable of Helmet mounted camera which can remotely feed the images.


That is developed by DRDO and very limited in service
