What is all this about credit?

By the way, he said 'a relatively poor country'. Let's compare India and UK. India had a greater GDP than UK in 2019 but I would say India is relatively poor. Very, very poor in comparison, given the population difference.

2019 GDP numbers

India 2.869 trillion USD
UK 2.829 trillion USD

Lol,all european Advancement for anglo-celto-germanics only comes out after industrial revolution, before it,west or north europe wasnt something advanced much.

Industrial revolution itself was a result of rhe arrival of excess of colonial money from Africa, india, south america.

Before industrialization and industrial revolution, west was on par with middle east and india and east asia,if not behind.

And no,Romans were mediterranean people, they weren't anglos or Celts or germanics, non Italians taking claim of Roman empire and its achievements is like arabs taking credit of china because both are "asian"

This is the calm before the storm. IAF will soon make an announcement that because of falling squadron strength they can't defend the country & therefore we need to purchase X squadrons of foreign fighter jets. This will be taken up by opposition leaders & used against the Govt. of the day. MoD babus who have an incredible nose for the scent of money/kickbacks will swing into action & will sign some dubious deal in record time.
Haven’t IAF been saying that exact thing for the last 20 years as their justification for MMRCA/MRFA? If anything the political storm occurred after GOI tried to address this (Rafale purchase )

These things aren’t tracked politically

Alpha defense says that all GE F404, F414 and the Su 20-MKI engines can comfortably power Uttam Mk2. Noice.
Wait its confusing
Uttam mk1a was for Tejas mk1a right
It has just higher tr modules that mk1
And Uttam mk2 is for Tejas mk2 which is of GaN

They have but they can say the same thing in a much more urgent and harsher tone. The political storm occurred in the case of Rafale for a totally different reason. Right now would be a good time because the opposition is running out of topics to yell at the Govt.

More like government sponsered foreign tour
Nothing of that sort. It is not some sort of a junket trip.

They are trying to shortlist the final jet, irrespective of the Govt. being able to finance it as of now. It is a sensible approach IMO. The Argentine Air Force (FAA) is doing what it can, to evaluate as thoroughly as possible from their end before submitting a report that compares all the 3 contenders (F-16 MLU from Denmark, JF-17 Block 3 and Tejas Mk1A). The financial aspects will then have to be taken care of by the country offering the jets as well as the Govt. of Argentina. That is a key element, but so is the technical selection.

They will be given access to the Tejas assembly line, simulators, possibly even to the Tejas Mk1A prototypes, so they can see for themselves what level of sophistication the Tejas Mk1A has, how easy it is to maintain, etc.

The Tejas Mk1A roadmap, with the list of weapons that will be offered, is critical to the decision that the FAA will make. They will be briefed on high level data for Astra Mk1, Mk2, etc. For e.g. the brochure spec No Escape Zone (NEZ) data. Argentina is extremely interested in getting a good BVRAAM and the JF-17 is offered with the SD-10. Tejas Mk1A can use the iDerby-ER but the future roadmap for BVRAAMs is a big part of the evaluation. Plus they'll want to get some idea on how good the Uttam AESA is. At some level they will need access to trial reports data to form an opinion.

One issue is that the Tejas Mk1/Mk1A's total service life has not yet been fully ascertained, given that the Main Airframe Fatigue Test (MAFT) testing began only recently and will take 8 years to complete. Till then it will be given a provisional 3000 or 4000 hours service life whereas in reality it is guaranteed to be much higher due to the conversativeness of the Factors of Safety used in the design (which is what led to higher empty weight).

For the JF-17, the total service life is 3000 hours as per an interview published in Air Combat Monthly with some PAF official associated with the program.
