Also trainer variant doesn't look as sexy as normal variant. So it doesn't make sense to bring trainers for republic day.

also how can all 3 meet the criteria and they pick the most expensive? That’s not how any tender works

interesting that the CAC’s local team includes former RMAF, that’s how you win bids, hope HAL is paying attention. In a few years HAL is going to have mountains of cash, I hope they have the freedom to operate as ruthlessly as the defence world demands and they aren’t run like another govt babudom.

If 30B needs to be spend then don't waste it on rafale, go for Israel type local version f35 aircraft with some indigenous components.

Israel cannot make F-35s. We should do it ourselves aka the AMCA and do the Kaveri project (this time we redo it right and with enough funds)

I didn't say they make f35, their version of f35 is somewhat different from international one and has some local components.
Murica only allowed Israel to do to auch changes and refused nato countries from modifying their f35

we're talking about RMAF above. As for IAF, they've decided on Rafale and they'll get their birds whatever the cost.

Britain is the one other country that is allowed to make changes. Britain is Tier 1 partner and everyone else is Tier 2 or higher. Only Britain can do software changes. Not even Israel can do that. They can only add hardware in which Lockheed Martin will make the necessary software changes.

Double engine jets like Mig 29s Jaguars Rafale Sukhoi took part last year too.

It's the fear of engine failure which plagued Mig 21 etc like jet a lot.

If that was such a massive concern, no airforce would use single engined fighters. Americans are fielding F-35 B/C on their carriers. We want twin engines mainly for the T/W ratio for taking off without catapults.

Ok, Egypt has confirmed that it will be going ahead with KAI T-50 trainers that will be assembled at the AOI factory in Helwan.

Egypt's AOI confirms agreement to produce SoKo jet trainers

Egypt's state-owned Arab Organization for Industrialization (AOI) has confirmed it has signed an agreement with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to locally manufacture advanced training aircraft.

In a statement released on 16 January, the AOI said its chairman, Mokhtar Abdel-Latif, had met a South Korean delegation that included members of parliament and senior officials from KAI and Hanwha Aerospace. They discussed the implementation of the AOI's agreement with KAI to “localise the manufacturing technology for an advanced training aircraft to meet the needs of the armed forces and export it to African and Arab countries”, it said.

The aircraft will be built at the AOI Aircraft Factory in Helwan, which previously licence-produced Chinese K-8E trainers for the Egyptian Air Force. It was reported that Egypt was producing more than 94% of the aircraft when the 120th and final K-8E was delivered in May 2010.

No bro requirement is of trainer not fighter
That's the problem
Everyone has requirement of trainer with limited fighting capabilities
No one has requirement of light fighters except Argentina
We don't have any trainer class aircraft to compete t-50
This is where porkies chinis and few dumb import loving Indians fall
That's why I even say Malaysian tender will also go to t-50 as their requirement is of trainer

In Malaysian deal they were caught bribing, but the deal is still going on.
