Bearings, pin fasteners, electrical connectors, lubricants and composite adhesive. None of Rafale's critical technologies are made in the US. The entire body of Rafale is going to be sourced in India and anything that isn't made of it in France, will be bought from our prime partner for cheaper than US makes.
Prime partner ? You frenchies do know how to flatter..:D

Snecma-Kaveri signing due any day

02 Dec 2011

Saraswat said price negotiations for a joint venture with French firm Snecma Kaveri for co-development and co-production of Kaveri aero engine for LCA Tejas MK-II is expected to be completed in a couple of months.

"Price negotiations with Snecma are in progress. They are not yet completed. It may take a couple of months more", he said.
Officials said the Indian Air Force has cleared the Kaveri engine co-development proposal with Snecma. The draft engine technical specification has been examined and cleared by IAF, which has further suggested that the engine design should have minimal impact on the LCA Tejas airframe for future retrofitment.

Good. The sooner it gets done the better. This project will be bigger than the Mirage upgrade deal. A lot of good things happening for France and of course India too.

No wonder Dassault managed to be cheaper. The real costs are coming in from other places. At this rate the MRCA deal will not be as expensive as first thought. All 3 deals can be linked together as the prime partners in Rafale are Dassault, Snecma and Thales. Thales can be roped in for stuff meant for AURA and AMCA too.

RCS shaping? Don't take our Indian friends for fools. Look at the intakes of this legacy F18...

Now this is the F18 with RCS shaping...

He was not only referring to the intakes but also the saw tooth projections on the underside of the fuselage, wings etc which act as radar scatterers.

BAE may cut Typhoon price to win India order
.
LONDON: British defence company BAE Systems is looking at all options to win back a $20 billion tender with the Indian air force, the company's chief executive told the Financial Times on Tuesday.

"I will be discussing with our partners what we do next. In my view, all options are on the table," BAE Chief Executive Ian King was quoted by the FT as saying.

India preferred a bid from France's Dassault aviation last month, after competing with BAE to secure a 126 aircraft contract.

Dassault's Rafale fighter jet undercut BAE's Eurofighter Typhoon, an Indian government source told Reuters when the contract was agreed.

The FT cited King as saying BAE was considering reducing the price of the Typhoon, but needed to consult with its partners in Germany, Italy and Spain on the best options open.
