After Indian Success, France Targets Malaysia For Rafale Jet Sales

Fresh from signing a contract to supply 36 Dassault Rafale jets to India, France is looking at Malaysia as the next possible buyer of its multi-role fighter.
Malaysia and Canada have competitions to acquire new fighter aircraft in which Dassault is a bidder but Dassault CEO Eric Trappier is more optimistic on the Asian country. Talking about the chances of the Rafale in future competitions where it would up against the American fighter jets such as the F-16 and F/A-18 Super Hornet, Trappier was quoted as saying by a French publication, Challenges, “we are not like America, we have to build a good plane.”
Reading between the lines of Trappier’s statement, is an admission of American political pressure for countries to buy its aircraft and that for the French to compete in such an environment their aircraft has to be better than the competition.
The Malaysian procurement is considered a good opportunity by Boeing which manufactures the F/A-18. Malaysia is retiring older versions of F/A-18s in service with its Air Force. Saab which has sold its Gripen fighters to Thailand is also considered a good bet especially when it beat the French in the deal to sell jets to Brazil.
Regarding Canada, which re-opened the competition after public pressure to reject the super-expensive F-35, the French are not so optimistic given ‘American pressure’ on its northern neighbor. Canada has invited Eurofighter, Lockheed Martin, Boeing and Dassault to bid for its fighter acquisition program.
But many industry pundits expect the ultimate winner to be an American plane.
However, the Indian contract would give an advantage to Dassault like none other. A French diplomat was quoted as saying in a French publication, Le Maghreb, "the Indians are downright formidable as negotiators," meaning that the aircraft and the terms of purchase are the only issues that mattered in the negotiations. Unlike in many other defense deals all around the world where bilateral relations and political groups (NATO countries buying only from fellow NATO countries) matter more than the technical merits of the equipment.

Pls correct me if i am wrong… If a jv has to be signed then i believe the complete tecnology of the kaveri engine is to be shared with them. I think their is something(might be technology or something else) because of which gtre/GOI/ someone else is not interested in sharing it with French. Hence i believe they are not going for jv.
If that was the issue holding up, then GTRE wouldn't have entered into deep negotiation with SNECMA for years over the same JV until the moment Rafale was declared winner of MMRCA. The moment UPA decalred rafale as winner French -GTRE negotiation fell through,

All the french was expected to do is to provide their already developed eco core for kaveri , We need not share everything on kaveri with french,

Pratt & whitney experts were asked to inspect kaveri & give suggestions, they said that it is a world class engine with variable cycle tech & can be improved upon,

So other guys had a look at kaveri time & again

Another interesting quote from dassault CEO is that IAF is going to phase out mirage-2000s, so what is happening to the 40 million dollar per fighter upgrade, which is a pure rip off, if the mirages are phased out and rafale take their niche segment this deal looks a bit more rational.
YES. Mirage 2000 will be phased out. but after 2030 !!!!

Will IAF Rafale pilot be able to fly French air force Rafales without additional training? e.g. we are waiting for delivery while pilots are training and we have to face two front war; in such case if we ask for a squadron from French air force and they are willing to sell for some instant cash, is such scenario possible? That would be kind of strategic depth.

only a US citizen can write that.

Let's speak of F35 when it will have made its first real war mission. saying .... in 7/8 years?

All the things you write is the handiwork of a French Dussault agent. You are questioning F-35 in real war. My question to you is when did Rafale fight a real air war other than chasing some Islamic terrosridt in Sahara desert. Rafale is a myth and an old myth. F-35 is a stealth fighter jet; no one will ever know when it is or isn't involved in a real war. Right now, it is in South Korea and likely flying over North Korea. India should have bought 36 F-35 with that 9 billion.. Pakistani foreign minister Khwaza will not be threatening a nuclear war on India had it been a deal for F-35. Rafale is a monstrous jet. Pakistan and China will see it in their radars seconds after it takes off. How it will be an advantage for IAF over Su-30MKI is anybody's guess.
