I'm OK with the beginning.
A super power? There is no superpower today. US are looking Inside their own borders. China is growing and it will probably be the next superpower. Russia is to weeak, even if you're better.... but oïl price is a new threat for you.

Oil and gas are just under 25% in GDP. The rest is hi tech industry, agriculture and services. So it is not so dangerous if not the FRS submitting Central Bank, but this is another interesting story

Every country has its speciality and where it dominates, Russians are never known for their cars, the Germans are, When anyone talks of top 5 cars, they are now either German or Japanese followed quite far off by the americans . The French are there just to make up the numbers. The Qualify of Russian engineering is excellent, and specially in designing. The Russians have came up with many designs those have seen operations. Also.
Lets see, There are the MiG15 to 19 and Su-7 which are swept back wings, There is MiG-21 and Su-15 with its triangular wing, There are Mig-23 Mig-27 Su-22 Su-24, Tu-144 with the Variable Swept wings. There is Yakolev planes which are VTOL and in a way, there seems that Lockheed were adviced in technical area by the Yakolev engineers for the F-35 B version VTOL version.. Also lets not forget the long ranged bombers T-16, Tu-20, Mya-4 the worlds heaviest plane An--225 .. the worlds most destructive Submarine Typhoon class, Then there also is the worlds deepst going attack submarine Alfa class, Also first Sattleite... first man in outer space.... Does anyone remember any french in outer space? Maybe an author who just wrote a fantasy. Now these are all the various enginnering achievements, Further in aviation there is Su-30, Su-35 and now PAKFA... unparalled...
In all these years, the French hav ejust come up with one design, and just tried to squeeze it out .. Mirage III, Delta wing,,,... Mirage 2000 again a delta, and inspired by SAAB viggen the french decided to add Canards to Mirage 2000 to make it "excellent plane" Can the french boast of an operational heavy or medium transport that was actually designed to be a military transport plane? How about VTOL plane, any ever operational aircraft made? How about Variable wings made on your own and in operation? Let the french not talk of Engineering achievements or Quality of engineers. By the way, when we buy defence equipment, we buy seeing their defence equipment and not cars..

I am hearing that quality of Russian made vehicles has improved a lot.

By the way, do get over the notion that China has cheap labour, Even the cheap factories in Guangdong are no longer viable, the cost of labour has risen in China. The only place now where China can compete is Automation and they are doing en masse. The cost of labour has risen highly in south China in particular and China over all. It seems that now the Chinese are using their surplus to now pump into the economy

This is one of the most secure areas of the French Republic. About french plane, you just forget Ouragan and Mirage F1, Etendard and Super Etendard: classical tailored planes, . You forget Super Mirage 4000 which is a delta canard plane (not a pure delta). Delta is not a Dassault invention. Why do you think other european fighter makers used this for their last production (Ex Panavia was a swept wings.... why do they change? answer to that and you will understand why Dassault is THE Delta specialist) ?
You forget others manufacturers : Sud Aviation Vautour (classical plane used by Indians).

Mirage 2000 doesn't have Canard. They are called "aigrettes" in french. It's the name of a bird (see right picture). Why ? II don't know...

EF has the same dispositiif. Added to Canard, because it's two different things.

Japan is unlikely to fire the first shot in south china sea. So it is a waiting game between USA and China, as to who blinks first.

If China is really pissed off, the first marker would be North Korea doing something stupid.

However I see a lot of stupidity in Europe right now. I give problems in Europe a higher probability of starting a war.

Russia is mostly in Asia. Check your map. The European part of Russia is less.

The eastward expansion of NATO, stationing of nukes in Poland, and forward deployment of NATO land forces are landmark events.

German and American meddling in Ukraine has a greater probability of sparking a world war compared to Muslim problems.
