This deal has totally upset the European defence industry.
France has got much needed billions, they can continue to innovate for the forseeable future.
UK, Italy, Spain are in cutback mode; Germany wouldn't want to go it alone ?
2 nations from the PIGS economic collapsed nations, they could not offer more incentives for EF?? You can make that 3 include UK on the PIGS list. This means France and Germany will be the only economic/industrial powers left in Europe??

I am guessing the reason is Only 1 of them is a nuclear power. Only 1 of them operates nuclear subs. Only 1 of them has SLBMs. ?

Why we should worry about Germany et al. The customer owes no explanation to the shopkeeper.

Given the current Geo-political scenarios and Indian growth if India will be in a position to sanction others then why we should stuck ourself with the word ''leverage'' and be self blackmailed.

There is a saying '' One in the hand is worth two in the bush''. At least we have two nations on our side forever or at least for far future for Geo-Political (vice versa) symbiosis.

In 2010, reports surfaced that the RAFALE was out of the competition.
Now in 2012, it's come back and won the MMRCA.

Dassault would be saying to LM,Boing,SAAB & MiG

Obama coming to power and not honoring the Bush nuclear deal destroyed any chance of a US plane winning. US was
the only country to have two planes in the MRCA, and then offered F-35; for all of them to be refused is an embarrassment
for Obama's administration.

Pak-fa hello ?
The avionics development is hitting dead ends. If they can't match mechanical to electrical engineering, they will either have to outsource to Thales or cancel the project.

Unless you can get your hand on B-2s, buying vulnerable bombers is too much of a liability. With 1,800km range, Rafale is plenty for penetration strikes.

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't 1,800 km a very short range ???
Considering 1) EFT has 3790 km
2) F16 has 4,200km (with drop tanks)
Just a comparison, but isn't the range too short ?

In short India gave Dassault Rafale the breakthrough it needed. The first foreign country to order Rafale.

Nehru used to send his clothes Paris to be washed in french laundries. Now his granddaughter in law has bought French birds for India. Isn't it called Parampara???

BTW this should strengthen Indo-France political relations. :india::france:

1,800km is the combat radius
1,390km for Typhoon
860km for F-16

The Tu-22M3 has a combat radius of 2,400km so it isn't far off from a strategic bomber range. Add the strike distance of Scalp EG and you can reach out and bomb someone at 2,100km.
