They have started to produce the plastic furniture in black now.

The orange is think was meant to emulate brown, but they ended up becoming orange. Personally, I prefer black, dark brown, or dark green.

This example below isn't that bad. I am not sure whether the furniture was painted over.

1. 1B1 has more recoil and Muzzle climb compare to M4 / M16 family Rifles, This is due to the working mechanism which is inherited from AK for reliability purpose though in trained hands the difference is non existing ..
2. I have no idea about latest AK family rifles and its hard to tell without using them like i did with AKM and 1B1 ..
3. 1B1 come with its own muzzle breaker / Flash hider ..

Note the angle of the holes, They push the gases from the tube to upward and forwards simultaneously, Pushing the rifle back downwards to reduce muzzle climb as well as reducing flash ..

INSAS is the family name of firearm, Under that you have 1B, 1B1, Improved 1B1, Excalibur, Kalantak, MSMC, Amogh & 5.56mm LMG ..

The rifle you are mentioning is 1B1 ..

Adding to what @pmaitra said, The GSQR was made for the Rifle in 90s during that time the AK was consider one of the best, So you have same colour as AK ..

I can't said why the Indian military use orange. In the USA people use bright color for different reason. For me I use bright orange and yellow tape on my magazine. So when I drop the magazine on the ground I can easily find them and who it belong to. I also put bright yellow or orange tape around my firearm so I can find them in wooded area. It suck to spend hours trying to find your magazines or rifle in wooded area.

One would go into a panic mode when you can't find your $7k precision camo rifle you left on ground to check your target.

The colour is not orange but leaf brown, and it was not from developers but from users, the logic being that black would become too hot to hold in Indian summer. FALs and AKMs were also ordered in leaf brown polymer furniture.

Well that make sense short off. Still the Israeli, US, Saudi Arabia, etc all use black year round in desert environment from handguns to rifles. If heat is a problem give them gloves. In fact safety glasses, gloves, and ear protection should be mandatory IMO. In the US military it is mandatory.

The recoil balance system is a solution in search of a problem. Both 5.45 and 5.56 are controllable in burst. If muzzle raise is a problem due to lack of training and whatever than a cheap solution is to put a muzzle brake on the rifle.

The material use on 1B1 furniture is mainly thermoset, Its resistance to high temperature, This is used in almost all modern AR ..

The barrel heating issue both in Indian and Nepalese armed forces back in days is coz of ill maintenance, This changed when proper instruction were handed for cleaning and maintaining 1B1s ..

He should let those kids shoot it. Does the military/government have youth firearms training in India? In the USA government/military/civilian provide youth training.

Girl start shooting at age 7 in the story link below. Our gun club provide youth firearm training as early as 5 years old. There also the Call of Duty game generation. Kids coming of age playing these type of games tend to either buy firearms or join the military. Sometime both.

Yes, we have NCC where school children can enroll & have semi military training with advance weapons like 303,INSAS are occasionally given to fire in firing range . Other than that people can buy air gun from market that use smaller pellets for target practice (it is a serious fire arm which can kill birds or small mammals ). Indian government is very scared of letting civilians have serious fire arms due to poor policing & low police to people ratio . You don't have much options in License firearm as its not easy to get one & all you have is double barell shot gun or over priced OFB revolvers .

Fire arms are luxury items only seen with either police or anti social elements ,common man has to defend on themselves.
