Wouldn't that create extreme pressure in the barrel and damage the barrel? If you design\make the barrel to handle the extra pressure then it will increase overall weight of the gun.
Therefore, it is designed for heavy machine guns which have heavy barrels and that is their advantage. The explosive in the bullet will not be much powerful. Only enough powerful to spread its explosion in 5 m diameter.

I had read somewhere that DRDO guys are adding a cap on bullet for armor piercing role.

Do you know there is a material which can be used to withstand the high pressure and temperature of a continuously firing assault rifle. It is tungsten-copper alloy. It is an alloy made from tungsten and copper. It offers good thermal conductivity, tensile strength and especially stiffness which is 1.8 times that of steel. But it has a limitation, it is more expensive than steel used in firearms barrels.
