just want to know how much this forum has penetrated into new generation. just asking you can ignore if you want. But why you want know it?
The post you are quoting is 13 years old. This is 2024.But I am disappointed that the rifle has all features of a Russian rifle design. It would be much proud feeling to know if the rifle was designed indigenously rather than making it like other design.
I am a 16 years old defence enthusiast.just want to know how much this forum has penetrated into new generation. just asking you can ignore if you want.
Which entity manufactures INSAS' magazine?
I know this has been answered already, however only partially. OFBs have many suppliers for their firearms furniture. Magazines for the INSAS are supplied by some OFB Factories like the one in Dum Dum, private entities like Nilkamal, Jai Durga Engineering Works, etc.Ordnance Factory Dum Dum makes 20 and 30 round clear polymer magazines and 5.56x45 ammunition for INSAS.
Well come . You have started very early and so you have lots of time to emerge as a defense think tank in future. Best of luck.I am a 16 years old defence enthusiast.
Some companies have account here but they don't engage and alot of people just read the forum not participate as for you welcome to the forum and change your profile ASAPIs there any defense company's CEO on DFI? Or any employee working in any arms and ammunition manufacturing company in defense sector?
interesting concept but seems science fiction level to me without explanationDoes anyone know that there is an ammunition design which can switch the ammunition between high explosive and armour piercing mode by just adjusting a selector on the firearm?
You may say that it doesn't exist. But it will exist in the future. I have designed it. But it will take 2 years to be in magazines of assault rifles of Indian army soldiers.
Assuming the rifle/mag will have to carry both types of ammo in this case, how do you ensure they're accommodated without an impact on the overall weight?Does anyone know that there is an ammunition design which can switch the ammunition between high explosive and armour piercing mode by just adjusting a selector on the firearm?

Simple some mags will have ap ammo , some will have HE ammo.Assuming the rifle/mag will have to carry both types of ammo in this case, how do you ensure they're accommodated without an impact on the overall weight?
What do mean by 'charging handles'?interesting concept but seems science fiction level to me without explanation
besides if you can think this much, why don't you try to conceptualize about charging handles? it's a big part of firearm design often underlooked
say, try to design a non-reciprocating charging handle that can also double as forward assist and is sealed design, in least complex way possible for you
Hmm. Caliber? Seems weird in INSAS thread, as no useful payload can be fit into 5.56.No, I mean only one cartridge can be used as both armour piercing ammo and the same as high explosive ammo.
But do you know that INSAS rifle will be replaced with AK-203. While it is unsure, but a 7.62 mm assault rifle will be installed in place of INSAS. I am talking of future.Hmm. Caliber? Seems weird in INSAS thread, as no useful payload can be fit into 5.56.
And IG you have something like SAPHE but programmable for airburst?
There is some implementation of APIT(Armor Piercing Incendiary Tracer) or APIE (Armor Piercing Explosive Incendiary) rounds made, but most of them are way too costly for any real life engagement senario and are mainly of High caliber uses, a single round can make you poor by multi thousands in case of real life engagement. Thus, they go mainly for shooting games and show off prepose by rich shooters. No, I mean only one cartridge can be used as both armour piercing ammo and the same as high explosive ammo.
even 7.62 s too small for useful payloadBut do you know that INSAS rifle will be replaced with AK-203. While it is unsure, but a 7.62 mm assault rifle will be installed in place of INSAS. I am talking of future.
Wouldn't that create extreme pressure in the barrel and damage the barrel? If you design\make the barrel to handle the extra pressure then it will increase overall weight of the gun.In armour piercing mode the lever will be down. Internally, it will allow the firing pin to strike at the bullet's bottom beyond the cartridge case. It will detonate both the main powder charge and the explosive inside the bullet. It will firearms the bullet which will pierce through armour.
