If you look at ISIS fighters posing in their social media they look identical to this- ill/loose fitting boots/sneakers, everyone wearing different tops and bottoms, weapons modified in the field without OEM/battalion standard equipment.

Not sure what else to say anymore, PARA SF are a law unto themselves, either they can't get the right equipment or they don't want to and take pride in this jugaad/rogue BS.

Give it 5 years, if the trends continue RR will be substantially ahead of PARA SF in terms of equipment.

Having better equipment is a considerable reason to have SFs in the first place, most SOFs in the world are 5-10 years ahead of what the conventional guys will get. How is it the reverse in India? The SF culture in India is so toxic and ineffective it needs to be burned down and started from scratch.

Convert all the SF battalions into airborne, draw up a separate SF force along the lines of the SAS with handpicked operators going through a standardised selection and training process. 10,000 'SF' operators isn't sustainable for a nation that has such little defence spending as India.

I think it's fair to say what the Indian Army has today aren't really SFs/SOFs, they are just super elite infantry. Neither the IAF nor IN have SOFs with full spectrum capabilities of top SOFs either so India really is without legitimate SOFs as of today. It just has more specialist units

I think people are forgetting that the Para SF has virtually no say in procurement, the Para regiment does.

Like I have said a 100 times before. Indian army SF are a commando unit on par with the US Army Rangers in capability. The only difference is that in the US Army hierarchy the Rangers are an extremely well respected and funded Unit
