Weird how all other modern special operations units have no problems while crawling with their armour on.
Is that so? Please do share the videos you have of the same. I am curious.

It is so enlightening to find that while the stress on crawling upto your target is to ensure both stealth as also an overall reduction in target size that you present for the enemy, there are "modern special operations units" who "have no problems while crawling with their armour on" because those geniuses think that mere presence of frontal and rear plates means that the "halo" of those plates affords reduction in overall bulk of the form presented as target, protects your neck, shoulder from bullet (since apparently they have some APS kind of protection for shoulders too, the part that is most exposed in a crawl) and of course, there is an absolute reduction in the noise generated by using a hard surface (of plates being dragged over surface) as opposed to that generated by relatively absorbent soft body tissue :D

Interesting.

I always though that there are 02 types of "protection" afforded to any foot soldier in combat -

1. Active Defensive Measures - achieved by the ability to quickly change position/move making it difficult for the enemy to target

2. Passive Defensive Measures - by employing body armor (ancillary measures include employment of camouflage & concealment measures - eg I made a post saying that hessian cloth "rug" of leaves, shrubs and lying in between rocks or on rocky surface that negates your thermal signature if observed under Thermal Imaging (due to radiation leading to a thermal bloom on the image projection)

And as an attacker, you reduce your overall silhouette, present a smaller target, and dump every thing that adds bulk & seconds to your mobility.

There was a study, wherein, it was found that under test conditions, for every 1 kg of body armour added, there was decrease in about 1.5% capacity. And this did not involve crawling. And does not factor in combat conditions, the stress from it and other factors like normal physiological reactions to humidity/temperature, gradient of land, topographical peculiarities (like Greater Himalayas have brittle rocky outcrops which prove dicey while moving up steep inclines).

Wonder why such studies are there ....!

I never thought a professional would brag this much on the internet, makes me suspicious.
So, if US makes a video, an SF operator claims to be carrying 70 Kgs in Iraqi desert - they are doing PR. But when, the poor Indian says that we are trained to count rounds (because every additional round that you carry in high altitude mountainous terrain in CI/CT ops, has a weight which you feel, especially when you don't sleep for days, waiting patiently, observing the enemy, making out the patterns, identifying the weaknesses and then attacking and have absolutely only gur chana, shakkar/namkeen para, unwrapped energy bars and chikki and are on solid water ration) because our lives depend on it (and our Training JCO made sure of it), we are bragging?

So, what do you want me to say? We do a "premature" ejaculation when an enemy comes in front of us?

Will our training methods never change?

What do you mean?

Is it that the present training and drills are of "lower quality" or "inferior"?

How have you objectively evaluated the different types of trainings and doctrines? Is it based on what other foreign troops employ? Or is it based on personal experience?

I understand that many enthusiasts here are disappointed with the equipment of various units, but micro-analysing everything and ridiculing anything is not the correct way of approaching or understanding things.

See, I'm not going to get into the bashing mode. Because for some of you who look at these things from outside, its usual to compare things and decide which is the better technique or equipment based on visual appetite.

You are welcome if you have abundant experience of doing RI and HRT training. If not then may be you shouldn't do it on a public forum where people have unlimited ammo cheat ON always to shoot your opinions down.

Now, I inferred your comment due to the reason where two teams are facing opposite to each other and their barrels are facing the other team. Training for such scenarios entails a great deal of discipline and planning. Discipline vis a vis entry, sweep and elimination of a hostile. They repeat these scenarios under time bound practices and they are trained to handle a lot of pressure in such situations. They train for contingencies or uncertainties that may arise being envisaged in training.

So, never judge a rifle by its paint.

Personally, suppressors are way too loud - in an environ as along LC (where, due to lack of major population centres and relatively zero ambient sounds, one can hear someone ways off). We didn't even use our venerable SAF 2A1 ... you could do things much better with much lesser noise than using a suppressor.
Sure, but a suppressor has other benefits too. Not to mention, suppressors do provide a lower auditory signature just in a different way.
