This has to be not a model as he is armed with sig716
And from the Frontline troops deployed in LoC judging by the terrain
Or probably from one of the airborne battalions

Several senior members and professionals have mentioned several times that mandates of the SFs of the 3 forces are not clearly defined, I came across the video on YouTube about the US airforces SF operations, is this what the Garuds should be doing are they trained to do something similar?

Should they - Yes
Are there - No

Just to give you an example of what JTACs are required to do

In the early days of GWOT Iraq 2 ODAs and their attsched JTACs encountered an Iraqi regiment hold up in a town and blocked the entry exit to the town. In the ongoing battle the JTAC had to stack nearly 700 aircraft in the air (fixed wing and Rotary) and then he was the one that gave directions on which aircraft would do which bombing run and what munitions they would use.

He stacked them by fuel availability on the plane, munitions and payload and altitude they were operating on.

He would then call them in one by one and then direct their holding patterns and overwatch as well.

He was talking to Navy l, AF, and Army pilots. He was the primary Airtraffic controller to all assets provided to him. He had execute command authority for the most part

The crazy amount of math and calmness under stress with so many aircraft in the air is insane.

PJs on the other hand can do low level emergency surgery in the field.

How do you assess the performance of Garuds at Pathankot?

That kind of controlling is non existent in Indian Airspace.

Even if we got Garuds to do that i will be very shocked if they could pull this off so well.(because the guys they would train from are below average anyway)

And same is the situation in Pakistan and Chinese airspace...i have the privilege of flying in both regularly.

Such calculations and multi tasking of great level and co ordination is not in any Asian country that i have seen.(Waiting to fly over Japan)

They canโ€™t do their only job for which the Garud force was created, lol.
Even if another attack happens on an airbase NSG will be called and we will not go in for the kill.and wait for NSG .garuds who are stationed in the base knows the surrondings of the base more than the NSG team coming 100 miles away. army units were near pathankot but they weren't usedNSG was called.

So is it safe for me to say in this thread that the primary task for which Garuds were made have been failed by them on a primary forward base where this was expected?

(wouldnt be so critical is Tambaram was attacked)
If we consider the Pathankot attack documentary to be true to most of the things, Garuds didnโ€™t have Night Vision devices to fight those terrorists and those terrorists were easily visible to a UAV operator at the airbase, and still terrorists managed to kill our Garud cammando and injure others, and here in India tech adoption is taken lightly like these are โ€œluxury stuffโ€ according to them, you wonโ€™t always have it during war and learn to fight without it kind of attitude in our military, night vision is a basic SF Stuff which they lack how can we say Garuds are any good, I still remember the joint encounter with RR in which our Garud commando Corporal Jyoti Prakash Nirala got KIA and were awarded Ashok Chakra posthumously, he killed 2 pigs and got wounded in the operation, before this operation 2 of his friends got KIA in a previous operation, here SF guys have no value and no respect by the military. This is the reason an excellent force like Garud is plagued.
