Who the fuk puts a telescopic sight over an Ak? Kaun he ye log.. Kahaan se aathe he ye

Engagements beyond 200m require more accuracy with an AK in valley like environment where there is combination of high altitude + urban + jungle. And IA operates Eastern European AKs with effective range of 300-350 & sometimes beyond. So it seems logical.
But with a high power scope one micro red dot sight is also required to engage nearer targets. Similar to the ACOG-RMR Combo sights used by SPG & Gujarat CHETAK.

Here you can see APDL sight being used in various scenarios.

This sight is most commonly used by RR battalions & now Paras which is surprising to me as Infantry along LOC require them more than RR. SIG 716 + this sight will turn it into an effective DMR.

I don't have much info about gears and equipment of special forces.... Pls anyone tell me what's the status... What is going on... Someone says the government is working then someone says kuch nahi ho rha.... I recently heard India is buying SDR from israel which can be used by SF... Comtacs may also be ordered soon... I have seen pics of operators with good quality plate carriers.... Though they are not much prevalant... I saw para using high cut helmets.... I saw that they are adopting quarter zipped tshirts with new camo as army is thinking to change uniform.... Pls someone tell me what is really going on.... Can we catch up with wester SFs and SFs like that of Russia in coming 5 years.... Pls tell... When is saw the photos below i had some hope... But then someone says that pakistank ssg Somalian SF afghan sf Iraqi sf has better gear and all my hope is destroyed.... Pls tell me what's going on... Is the government working on it or not

The modernization of army gained momentum only after 2014. In 2016, 50K bulletproof jackets were ordered as an emergency purchase. Further another 1.86L BPJs were ordered in 2018. The rest of the things like communication sets, SDR, helmets and gun accesories are getting in slowly. But this process will take time.
However, it is important to remember that Army or MOD still now treats Para SF as super infantry. Hence, Para SF won't get anything substantially separate and advanced than normal infantry and RR battalions apart from some inexpensive ad-hoc purchases from their unit commander. Hence Para SF gear will improve same as other units over time. Eeven the plans for emergency procurement from USA of SCAR type rifles and other things is currently stalled due to budget crunch.

I don't see anything on them that Indian SFs don't have. Which should be more of a travesty for them than us purely because the entire national budget of Pak is open for the PA to take as much from as they want, and the fact that PA holds lot of power to make executive decisions happen whenever they want.

Plus, the fact that the emphasis placed on sub-conventional operations by porkis is several magnitudes higher than India ever did or ever hopes to do.

Plus, the existence of ISI-created black market supply lines for all kinds of gear that would otherwise be denied to pak, and the openness of military to issue such gear.

Despite all these factors in their favour, if SSG is unable to gear up along the lines of Ukrainian/Russian SSO at least, that can only be surmised as sheer incompetence on the part of SF command in securing procurement.

Guess we have something in common after all.
