Does this photographer have a website where these pics can be found?
@abingdonboy

You were talking about them going toward faster mag changes instead of those dual-mag contraptions they have on MP5s now - take a look at those pouches. Open tops with no flaps, facilitating quick mag change.

As opposed to how they used to be:

Fast question, how many of you understand the defensive and offensive battle in mountains? Before you all comment so much about the rifles and their capabilities, someone please educate me about the basics and from yhere we shall take it to the next level.
The only thing I know about mountain warfare is whoever has control of the heights will have somewhat of an inherent advantage and logistics can make or break the outcome of such kinds of warfare.

Ya'll Nibbiars In Ladakh like scenario I would prefer regiment of long range rifles in combination of 7.62, 8.56, 12.5, 20mm with range to disable ATGMs, Mortars, light armour. 7.62 alone would not be able to stop PLA advance. PLA already deployed 20mm snipers in regimental strength. We have everything, we lack good quality scopes specially smart digital electronic scope, China has it & use them in mass.

fighting would be mostly conducted on platoon or smaller unit level,specialised troops can make a change controlling heights and passes are important that only thing I know.

Ya'll Nibbiars In build up area one can shoot with short barrel in 200 meters. But in Ladakh most fight will commence at 6 km and roll up closer at 1000 meters. We will have to hold of PLA at 3000 meters else difficult to survive for infantry due to lots of 20 mm they are going to use. Most effective counter to cover provided by barrage of 20 mm sniper fire to light Tanks of PLA would be Javelin top attack missile. (for individual infantry personnel) I can't be standing atop trench with MILAN only to be taken out by PLA sniper 4 kms away.

This was told by the Raj Bagwe sir.

@AVINASH4061 sir, whats your view on the army choosing 7.62x51 SIG 716 rifles and how effective could they be without using any kind of magnified optics and depending only on Iron sights?

Imo
Defensive would not necessarily mean holding the last point of your territory but would mean that you hold onto a feature that has proper logistics support, can be re-inforced in quick time and have other support arms nearby.

Offensive in mountains will require a large number of men to overwhelm the enemy positions along with arty support and air or helicopter support. Offensive will also require special thinking at times cause one may have to take the toughest route to attack the enemy. Offensive will also have to ensure that there is accurate intelligence and backup plan ready if the offensive fails and men are to be moved out cause in mountains that will be challenging. Another thing that if we get hold of enemy post/territory we need to ensure they remain well supplied in terms of ammunition, logistics, medics and reinforcement. Also restricting enemy logistics lines by targeting them will be important in order to prevent counter attacks

PS: i still feel men on ground is still the most important factor when it comes to defending or attacking the enemy in mountains.

Ya'll Nibbiars I fear that since PLA batteries of 20 mm with range over 5 kms, will pose launching challenge to Milan, Nag, personally I would not stick my neck out from trench, then I would prefer to launch Javelin, vertical launch, top down approach. We are in a situation like Panipat where Bhausaheb not understood importance of camel mounted swivel guns with grape shot but confident on long range French cannons in 1761.

Frankly I wouldn’t be surprised for smaller ‘novelty’ items like this which half the people who end up buying them won’t actually use , if they don’t make it in-house.

Doesn’t SPIKE have top attack mode? If we want to import why complicate the situation more than what it already is, since we already operate few pieces of SPIKE ATGMs we might as well buy speaks if we really need them .
