1) I know a few MARCOS myself those who served in the 90s/00s
2) if they train for 18 months to get deployed they will get slaughtered.
- they are 20 year old sailors who try out. They havnt even done basic boot camp. Think about it. In 18 months they will do selection, shooting, basic infantry training, diving, eod, parachuting, mountain warfare, desert warfare, cqb, counter terrorism hostage rescue, sniper school, SERE ?

Yes advanced training continues constantly but noway they are fit to be deployed after 18 months

Almost every family has member settled abroad!

Check out the no of bureaucrats married to foreigners NRIs u will see a stunning picture.
We are basically playground for the glowies.
Unlike the Chinese who have slaughtered all CIA operators and Russians who exchange the list of active operators I don't think we command much respect.

If u ask some people living near cantonments they will give u mixed opinions about afasars, some rude some completely degenerate.

The people on top aren't the same as the ones that conduct rescue during floods.

Yes it's true, talked with the admin, he himself is a son of a legend from 9, won't dwelve much into it

PARAs just don’t seem to be as interested in technical/formal skills as others

Would be quite depressing to contrast a Green Beret and a PARA (SF), Green Berets are given years of advanced skill training for advanced medicine, linguistics, radio comns, FID etc etc. In fact afaik each GB has to choose a foreign language to specialise in once he passes Q course

Isn't officer cadets in NDA and IMA given Training in foreign languages, Arabic French Spanish and whatnot
Have seen in some video a cadet getting trained in mandarin

Those kind of officers are mostly in AEC not SF.

A JCO is equivalent to a Warrant Officer. So essentially is the highest ranked NCO and the Lowest Ranked within officer Cadre.

Can bet on it, SF soldiers/officers who served during early days of kashmiri insurgency knew local languages including punjabi/koshur and that too in perfect accent and had a decent vocabulary...I cant say much about what it's like right now

The dude in the middle is a fucking legend, he was in the UK special forces then went through the whole selection process in US sf too. He was also the guy in charge of the MRAD sniper project.
