do our regular soldiers(not special forces) have comtacs....i mean every western military loadout video i see they are like bundled with helmet. Also i saw a lot of those countries issue their individual soldier equipment as a kit(clothes for all weather+molle+plates+boots+gloves for wearable, comtac+radio+watch+helmet+glasses+smartphone for technical)....do indian army issue this as a kit or they fuck up that basic shit also?
To speak broadly , no they don't...
their priorities is something upon which i would like to write a research paper on

What would you replace them with? Or would you rather ditch dmrs and be happy with new sakos?
hk417 or Fn SSR if possible
even a modernized m110 will be good

Semi auto DMRs even though they are less accurate than bolt ones are important in some cases like in case of shooting mobile targets at intermediate ranges or while tackling hordes .
I also think that in night vision and thermal sniping they are comparatively easier to handle.
Sakos won't be able to fill their shoes completely ..

Hk won't sell to us and fn seems to be that way too for now so maybe just use sigs as dmrs for now? Nsgs have been doing that for a while now

Galatz must be replaced immediately with some modern DMR. It is practically useless in present scenarios. You can't really mount anything on that offset scope
Allow me to disagree.

The Galatz is a perfectly good gun that serves a niche role. It is fine for 500-600m shots and urban Sniping. The folding Butt allows you to take a long gun in a more concealed and compact manner and is great to jump out of airplanes with. It's average accuracy is also a compromise for its ruggedness and reliability

Is it a sniper rifle. NO. But there are a number of occasions where the Galatz would be preferable over a proper sniper file. It definitely has its place in our SOF armoury even if it is used less frequently.

PS Note: I am in no way saying that the SF uses them in that niche role. They actually use them in the generalized role where the HK417/M10 would be better for sure. But having a few Galatz around as part of the Armoury is definitely not a bad idea.

I have no idea. I would highly doubt that though. Anything offbook would most likely happen via SG. Remember no permanent cadre. Just second a squad to SG and then rotate them back once it's done
Wait even sg is not permanent? You move back to your squad?

One of my knowns was in "Alpine Special Group" do you know about this org ?
They seem to be a seperate entity within the SFF as maximum troops are from Regular Vikas Bns.
They've got mostly SFF and SG weaponary incl. mp5s, silenced Shipkas, uzi/micro uzi, gen 0 Tavors, FAB/Normal Romanian AKs, Dragunovs, PSG-1, old Ar18, m16 and new IWI Jerihcos all with simunition kits aswell

The Galatz needs a thorough modernisation in our case, its optic, the Nimrod 6x40mm Telescopic Sight is very much outdated, it deserves a proper furniture upgrade to ensure that picatinny rails can be added so optics, lights and lasers can be mounted on it, like this
