5 T 90 less
Or
Couple of reapers less
Or
Throwing few junk tanks in junk and saving money on maintenance

For a world class SF?

This is the choice of Generals are unable in taking!

How can you say you want to fight small wars and you hold on to antique tanks???
From discretionary budgets IA HQ has enough resources to make a decently equipped unit to contemporary standards. Most years these guys hand back funds to the MoF that they couldn’t spend in a FY

I don’t think it’s wise to use the red herring of resource restrictions. Like I said-give them more money and you won’t see a significant difference. The point isn’t to upgrade, the point is to fatten the pocket and look wh0re yourself out to the world’s OEMs, there’s little incentive to actually get things signed, but endless RFIs makes you the darling of the world’s defence industry

China seems to be that kid who is doing everything with vengeance to learn.

And as far as I am concerned..as on this date ..I fear a war with China would be bad for us.

Feel free to disagree

A bro sent me a video of Paki SSG who I don't want to mention..where SSG had better weapon handling than Para..2023 video
Equipment and drills wise SSG has always been a smidgen ahead of Paras it has to be said

their combat record is quite a bit more patchy though but I put that down to general Pak fauj incompetence- the same class of generals are to be found in india btw.

Why disagree? Can't agree more

They don't even consider us a worthy opponent, they treat us like some COIN threat. Currently all of their warfighting efforts revolves around a proper LSCO with USA.

Won’t get disagreement from me. China has said as much- their vision is clear and they are working single minded to it. And they are benchmarking the freaking US, Indian generals/leadership benchmark themselves to a failed state (Pakistan)

we talk about IA here but IAF are perhaps even worse off, after 2030 when PLAAF has >1000 4.5++/5th gen VLO platforms I’m not sure what IAF is planning on flying. 100% the only fighters they induct from today to 2030 are a mere 83 LCA MK1A whilst continuing to retire 0.5 squadrons (equivalent) annually. Their only demand since the last 30 years has been ~200 MMRCA/MRFA, I don’t know what middleman in France they made this promise to because they’ve not wavered from this despite it getting less and less feasible every year

When China wants they can deliver a huge beat down on India and what few talk about is the first world cyber capabilities the CCP has, they’ll probably blackout the Indian military within minutes of an all out fight.

Or
Downsize the whole Army to a more "manageable" level
2 year post Covid recruitment freeze and agniveer are to achieve what exactly if not this? The thing is the mammoth legacy pension liabilities will be a burden on the IA for at least another 20-30 years so the most recent downsizing efforts won’t really show much fruit for a long time in terms of freeing up resources.

and I’ll reiterate I’m not even sure the IA knows what to do with more money or if they have an incentive to spend it, the FINSAS images are burned into my soul.

1) calling T90/BMP indigenous JFC
2) as I said- let IA showcase their single digits of Gucci gear all they like during events in Delhi but every time they do a real world ex the real stuff comes out, almost every single thing in that video is about 20-30 years out of date, the bandanas are just the cherry on top. Competence left the building a long time ago.

+ imagine putting a compass and bolt cutters/wire strippers on a table in front of the media to showcase your equipment. This is how low they are

So why exactly do Indians want to take back Tibet? Only to equip Tibetans like shit as well?View attachment 217737
I’ll leave this here
2004 spec IA is not far from IA’s 2025++ FINSAS spec

to think that since 2004 the Indian taxpayer has paid ~$200bn USD on the IA (the vast majority being swallowed up by salaries and pensions of course). What a ROI

Regarding air force it's doomed
No expectations
By 2030 they will only have old Su-30MKI 36 odd Rafales and mk1a capable of fighting rest mig-29, m-2000, jag would be just for show or barely useful
By 2030 being capable to fight will be a big problem for us forget overpowering and dominating

Forget about GROM (who SAS and JSOC units consider peers), Taliban SF are better equipped (by far) and have much much better drills than any Indian unit has ever shown

Yes yes they are all ex ANA SF trained and equipped by NATO but that just proves what can be done with the right mandate. 20 years ago these guys were all village boys with soviet era AKs
Yeah 2 grips on an m4 is very pashto-talicentric considering their societal structure and family values...cheers to NATO SOF especially american SOF on considering the fact that these top operators have little brothers at home for whom they've got the smaller grip for.

Put a scope and its good to go
They probably don't have enough for these.

Edit : It always makes me laugh how IAF went for AK-103. In mid 2021 they ordered AK-103 despite the fact that we're getting AK-203. Okay let's assume they feared an imminent invasion from China so "emergency procurement". But then in Jan 2022 we ordered off the shelf AK-203 from Russia.

Lol that’s my post.

As you can see here, we are behind but not far behind back in 2004. What has changed for the average infantry jawan besides rifles?
