Quality of SF and infantry has simply gone down, back then I know of instances in which 20-30 sized ambush parties were successfully ambushing infiltration groups twice their size. Have read and heard a lot.

Indians just need to accept the realities that their army isn’t going up but going down. The fact that Indian special forces are fighting infiltration bids now is sad, considering that even in 2013 there were regular infantry killing 5-7 in one go.

Illyas Kashmiri, sajjad afghani. Heck some of the groups like Harkat and Lashkar-e-Taiba were spawned from these mujahids groups.

Soviet afghan war played a big role in shaping this insurgency.

U guys are thinking tactics is different equipments is different training is different etc
But it's not the point is everything is interconnected its not sabzi being cooked namak kam hai mirch kam hai masala kam hai
Point is if one of the branch fails the reason is other branches aren't performing well
These things like equipments training tactics etc are not different structures but rather a whole ecosystem functioning together guided by intent and efficiency
Lacking intent to learn, modernize, amend etc is the root cause along with severe incompetent officers being selected through the existing procedure
The moment intent knowledge and efficiency increase in the organization they will treat the above branches as an ecosystem like other countries then the development in training equipments and tactics will take place
Mordern practices will also come into play
So basically entire institution ha sto be shaken up and rebuilt on meritocracy promoting efficiency and clear intent

Not a lot of men in this world can go against 9 Para operators who are ex NSG too and win without any scratch.

Ofcourse they are either seasoned from Afghanistan or ex SSG members who have retired and i knew it since i read the comment on their twitter where they had respect for Para SF coz they have seen many days and nights like that.

Poor capabilities and tactics with respect to actual SF level and not against fidayeens.

But, I do completely agree para sf think like a commando unit, instead of a SpecOp unit tactics and equipment wise more than a generation below the basic benchmark. 9Para better than others.
