There are no tests for aptitude.

The last time US secret service worked with NSG complained about their aptitude.

Except for bias we have no reason to believe that they may be the best which they may not be.

And indian soldiers come from a very humble background with not much exposure and education except Marcos.

Hence there is no solid logic or evidence to claim that except for pure bias

The system isn’t setup to promote those with aptitude in modernity and innovation. IA is a barely modernised version of the Pak Fauj, more effort is made to judge regimental moustaches than create SF capability

secondly the main point of helmets is PPE and to protect from fragmentation, if we go by the official narrative here they were taken out by an IED, most IEDs have a fairly limited blast radius and will inflict most damage by frag

walking into an ambush without even proper PPE is not the hill you want to die on

I remember reading a study long ago 10-15 years that basically said that the Average IQ of SOCOM was significantly higher than the average Populaiton - this includes the grunts in Rangers etc.

The IQ of JSOC members was even higher. these guys take on courses from Cyber Warfare to Nuclear Safey and Chemistry to understand new threat enviornments.

The basis of high IQ it turs out was not education - like you said "rednecks" - it comes from an entreprenuel spirit of getting shit done by yourself. Alone. That is what essentially what Selection is supposed to do. What do you do after 40kms when you sitll ahve 60 to go and your body is shutting down. the Abililty to self motivate is a precursor to IQ. (Bundling IQ/EQ/KQ here) - with this ability to self motivate comes self confidence and risk taking ability.

So like you said even our Selecton breeds in the same high "IQ". BUT if the system doesnt nuture it and foster it it will always die a slow death.

Sorry but i wholy disagree with giving PMO a pass on this. THey are ENTIRELY responsibile for overseing strategic capability of the Nation that is why they have a Cabinet Secretariate and National Security Advisor.

SF is not strategic because nobody in the PMO/CS/NSA understands or gives a f*ck.

I am sorry but if Pak fauj has this budget they would be much better equipped than us because they always priortise what they need.

Its another thing how they perform in battle.

Look for yourself..who had better equipped SF for most part of last 3 decades,better uniform upgrades earlier,better snipers etc

They are doing well for what little they can afford.

Same is for the officers who are 12 pass and NDA and IMA doesnt focus much on education and exposure aswell as told by the good old General in a clip shared here.

Since you have grown up abroad you havent had the chance to interact with the Police,CAPF and other forces here and hence you are assuming them to have greater aptitude than what you see in Europe.
