Army Para Special Forces Requirements

EquipmentQuantity
Mk 48 light machine guns715
FN Scar (H) assault rifles1,050
Scar (L) / HK-416 assault rifles1,400
FN .50 Cal Browning heavy machine guns110
Helmet mounted night vision goggles400
Combat free fall parachutes600
Barret M107 A1 heavy sniping rifles100
Ammunition rounds20 (M)

Problem Is Army control over Special Operations command unlike US SOMCOM

its Needs Separate budget Like NSG and Separate training Centers And Special think tanks
What is the need for 50 caliber browning, when OFB is already producing NSV and army has improvised it on Browning tripod along LOC. OFB also produces 12.7*108 mm ammunition for NSV.

Browning gun weight : 38 kg (without tripod and ammo)
NSV gun weight : 25 kg (without tripod and ammo)

Because OFB isn't worth the dirt on the Para SF's shoe
Who gives a fuck what they're worth... He's right, why are we buying Brownings? NSV is definitely good enough, not not to mention cheaper. It 8snt as if those will be used often either...

OFB developed Browning 50 caliber shown in Defence expo 2020.

Browning ko bhi copy kiya....
They could just have made a .50BMG version of NSV or Dushka. But a .338 MG is the way to go. It can be used as both a GPMG and HMG with the right ammo.

It isn't about the NSV or the browning, it's the production quality of OFB products. The last thing we wanna do is to now start handing weapons from the OFB to the Paras considering their atrocious record.
How unreliable can they make a machine gun?? It won't be that bad.

OFB even made a RCWS( most probably help from Elbit) based on Browning 50 caliber. They are offering it to Navy and Coast guard.

While a separate RCWS(indigenous project) on armoured vehicles like Arjun MK1A is based on NSVT.

Both Browning and NSVT are time-less designs. Browning is WW1 vintage, still going strong in US Military. Also, the patents expired on it long time ago. Since demand is there, hence no harm in copying, if OFB can make it cheap and reliable.

SSS Defence is reportedly working on a .338 Lapua magnum based LMG. OFB will probably also upscale its new 7.62*51mm LMG to .338 caliber variant, if army issues an RFI.
Thats the thing, don't just up-gun that flimsy 7.62 LMG, do something innovative. Like an easily portable .338 LMG with a reciprocating barrel. And a fire control optic. With a LRF, ballistic computer, etc.. Stuff like that will go a long way. Scaling up the existing LMG to .338 will make it heavy as hell.
